I think, if you tell them, they won't believe you anyway because they can see and hear them.
I also feel, in more serious cases, the children arent very interested in the reality of anything else. They think what they see is reality. If some other child told them that there is a million frogs screaming around them, they wouldnt understand it because they don't see it.
