I'm sorry you had problems getting your sons.

And thank you for the point in the right direction.

My son was set up with a regional center that sets him up with services and getting diapers set up was one of them. we have state insurance through ssi and that covered it. with the particular plan we chose.. ours was healthnet (in california) then we switched to blue cross be cause they started playing games with us on what they would cover. but for about a good 3 years we never paid anything for diapers/ pullups. my son was potty trained a 6 years old. just shortly after his birthday and right before the birth of my third child. good luck to you and i hope you find the resourses you need!

My ped is very knowledgable, but if he doesn't know.. I will contact his GI. He always gets things covered that I expect to be denied. He has a person who does everything for him as far as finding pharmacies and products.

Awesome you had two ways to get formula. Nutrition stuff is so expensive.

Oh that's wonderful that you have those resources. They are hard to come by.

Not 2 different ways, we just moved to a different state with new ins. Originally we had a pedi who helped us but moving here our pedi didn't know much because we have an FEP ins and they aren't as common. Took us 3 months to get it all figured out, totally sucked.and then they went and switched her to a toddler formula...still waiting for that to go through. Stupid paperwork

Sounds like the year we were spending $60 a month on thick it, then we got our first shipment by insurance and three months later he was taken off the thick it. Insurance is confusing and time consuming at times.

We're waiting on boost kid essentials to be shipped. Maybe in a week. Last ditch effort on additional calorie supplements. I think we've tried everything on the market for medical nutrition orally with no luck, having him intake enough. I guess we'll see and hope he drinks it. So frustrating.

His GI doesn't feel like his hospital can help him any more. So they referred him to the biggest childrens hospital in WA to see Another GI, a child psychologist and a GI to try to help him eat. His first appt is next week. And it sounds like they want to so an intensive feeding therapy- 2 hours a day, every day for 2 weeks. Not so great is the hospital is 2.5 hours away. So I'm not so sure what we are going to do if that's really the schedule we need. Hotel? Commute? I don't even know.

Jeez. Sounds like the bigger kid version of what we are dealing with. DD doesn't eat well and was referred to a feeding clinic. We are lucky to have a huge one about 15 minutes away. We start OT for feeding soon and intensive therapy in 3 months if GI and allergy say there's nothing wrong with her.

Our place has an in patient program and I think there's either discounted hotels or rooms at the program or something. There's nothing closer? Or do they just want you to go to that specific one?

You tend to do that a lot just to jump on people I've noticed. You should probably pay attention more before snapping to the automatic douchebag response you seem to love to do so much. Being one for the sake of being one doesn't make you awesome. Pretty much every time I've seen you post since the night you joined you've got some prick thing to say that's not really helpful but you want to put your two cents in to be one of the "awesome" contradictory people.

Well, we go to one hospital right now for feeding, OT and speech that is 45 minutes one direction and then we go to his GI and when he was first evaled for feeding, plus all the swallow studies and gut x-rays 45 minutes the other direction. Now, that GI wants to send him to Children's because they are way bigger and the step above. Even though his current GI is a great doctor, the bigger hospital has the really intensive feeding therapy. The child psychologist would work with the OT for two hours together side by side to help him. He had an undiagnosed swallowing disorder and got really sick from aspiration bronchitis a few times. And also had undiagnosed GERD. So they want to take a psychological approach rather than just address the chewing, textures and swallowing food whole.

And now that I'm thinking about it, the GI probably needs to look at him over at Childrens so he can prescribe the treatment since it's his hospital? We have an appt for Feb 7th with the GI.

And I'm not sure on the hotels etc. I'm going to ask about it before we start that schedule though. Because if we are spending that much time in the car and moving around in general I can guarantee he won't be eating that week.

Why thank you for turning my apology into something horrendous.

I'm a terrible for assuming this was a random question and having the same response as everyone as "why would insurance ever cover diapers?"

Not everyone thought that. Especially those who read the OP and noticed this was the SN forum.
