Need advice from moms who BF toddlers

posted 11th Jan
My son is 13 1/2 months and as long as i can remember he has had to be breastfed to sleep. I really wish to stop this cycle. I am a SAHM and in desperate need of time to myself. I want to be able to get him to sleep, lay him and down and him not wake up because my tit isn't in his mouth. I end up laying in bed with him for an hour or more and over half the time, when i get up he wakes up.

Any advice?

I just stopped. I said no and laid and cuddled him until he passed out, then moved. Took about a week til it was peaceful.

I still lay with him to get him to fall asleep 18 mo later. I'm okay with it.

Ferber Method. I had to do it when Isaiah was 16 months. Before then, he would need the boob to fall asleep and was waking up every 2-3 hours to comfort nurse. It was driving me crazy. I heard the no cry sleep solution works well, I don't have any personal experience with it though.

ferber method? and yes he still wakes up frequently to comfort nurse too. He has this thing where he goes boob to boob every 30 seconds too and i can't break him of it.

You just have to stop doing it, yes he will scream and get upset, but it will only take him a few days and he will realise that its not happening anymore so he will give up. Give him a sippy cup with milk in it. Yes its EASY to just give in and give him what he wants but that's what he expects. My son is 14 months and he gets put into a single bed at night with a sippy cup and we close the door and he goes to sleep. Persistance is the key and the longer you continue doing it the harder it will be to get him to stop.
