Drained Energy

posted 5th Jun
Almost instantly after becoming pregnant I've been drained of almost all my energy. I just don't want to do anything - even thinking of doing something lowers my energy level! I know it's normal, but with hubby gone a lot, I'm left to do almost all the household chores and childcare and I'm ready to go back to bed the minute I get out of bed. ha, I guess I was hoping I'd get off easy like with my previous two pregnancies, but I can see this little one is making sure I'm aware of him/her EVERY minute.
Are there any PG-friendly energy boosters, preferably something natural, that I can take to help?

I took Fish Oil during my pregnancy and it helped my mind stay sharp. In a way it did boost my energy.

Nothing worked for me...still nothing works for me lol and I'm 23 1/2 weeks along. Whoever said your energy comes back in the second trimester LIED!! For me anyway. I sleep anywhere from 10-14 hours a day...I sleep get up I'm usually good for like MAYBE 5-6 hours sometimes longer then I'm tired and sleepy again. Sometimes eating fresh fruit helps, and not eating so much heavy food but it doesn't help a lot.

in my first trimester i had to drive from san antonio TX., to St Louis, MO by myselfand i was very afraid of being so tired that i could make the drive. i drove the whole 15 hours straight and all i had was moutain dew. i didn't know i was pregnant when i made the drive down there so i was poppin vivrens and drinkin energyr drinks the whole way there. and while i was in school we were getting up a 430 every day and i was sooooo drained. so i was poppin pills and drinkin energy drinks just to stay awake in class. until i found out i was pregnant. then i was just suffering.

I love energy drinks and starbucks. It was soooo hard to cut them out when I got pregnant. So every now and then I would just get a decaf starbucks and it tasted the same!

Yeah, I've been eating as much healthy stuff as I can in hope that it'll help, but it hasn't so far. Or, if it has it hasn't helped much. lol, there goes my hope for the energy restoration in the 2nd trimester!!

Are you sure you're not anemic? http://www.medicinenet.com/anemia/article.htm
Besides the normal fatigue that hits us women when we'repregnant, doctors say it's also normal to become anemic while pregnant. In my case, I was already diagnosed 'border-line' anemic my entire life, and then with this pregnancy, my OB told me I became more anemic. She just recently prescribed me some iron pills and told me to change my diet to include more iron-rich foods. It seems to be helping me so far so it's all good. *Wish you the best*

Actually make sure you are getting the right vitamins and minerals and iron. If your vitamin levels are outa whack you will be even more exhausted. I had to work most of my pregnancy until I was on bed rest and it kicked my butt. Like you I just wanted to sleep, sleep sleep.

I haven't been to my doctor yet - she doesn't want to see me untl the 10th, so I haven't had any of the usual tests.. I've been taking a prenatal since before I was pregnant.. I'll def. be asking my dr. what she thinks. ty to all who replied!
