Pregnancy Yoga & Birth Centers :)
posted 11th Jan
I'm going to put my two unrelated questions in this one post.
Do you know of a good pregnancy yoga DVD? Or really any good pregnancy workout DVD (I would prefer yoga). Can't afford and don't have time for a class in a studio.
Also we are looking into switching to a midwife.. halfway through my pregnancy haha. I really love my OB but am hoping for a natural birth and I think I would be more likely to have one with a midwife. We live pretty far from a hospital so were not totally comfortable with a home birth.. but have an interview and tour appointment set up at a birth center. I'd love to hear people's experiences at a birth center.. if you could tell me overall how you liked it or not, or even link me to your birth story if you have one on here that would be amazing!
Sorry for the rambling, I rarely get a few minutes to be on here!

Do you have any current yoga DVDs? You can continue with your usual yoga routine for the most part, so long as your pregnancy is not high risk, and there are no unusual complications. As usual with yoga, if any of the poses feel strenuous or make breathing difficult (moreso than just the usual heavy breathing), or make any part of you uncomfortable, don't push yourself. Obviously as you get bigger, you may have to adjust certain poses.
Both studios I attend have tons of pregnant ladies in and out of there (even for hot yoga--though those women typically aren't more than 30 weeks).
You can find some good yoga practices on Youtube actually. But if you're really bent on getting a prenatal yoga DVD, I hear that Prenatal Yoga with Shiva Rea is pretty decent (though I can't say that personally, as I have never viewed it).

I have some pregnancy yoga DVD, it's just one of hte most popular ones on Amazon. I don't remember what it's called.
I had a birth center birth and it was GREAT.. having the second one at the same place. Can't say enough good things. You don't have to fight tooth and nail for what you want.

Thank you! I only have one yoga DVD and it was pretty hard even when I wasn't pregnant. Haha

I am so excited to check it out! It's so nice that there is a happy medium because home birth and hospital birth can be so extremely different.

I havent got a clue on the yoga however I have had three birth center births and am planing a fourth . I love my birth center and everything about it. The room is big and home like. There's an actual bed no hospital bed and a glorious tub . Ohh and my own bathroom . It's the closest thing to being at home without being at home.

There is a huge tub and bed.. I am nervous but excited! I was induced with my son and ended up with an epidural. That was at a hospital. So this will be all new to us!
