I just started one 3 days ago and already see a difference.
In the past, counting calories always worked. When I was 19 I lost 40 pounds in 5 months, but I was cutting too many calories (consuming about 500) and exercising too hard (running 3 to 5 miles a day)

you can safely lose about 40 lbs in 5 months. I think that's about how long it took me. I ate about 1200 calories a day, and worked out.
if you use Myfitnesspal .com it really helps track what you eat, how much you work out, and how much extra you need to eat so you don't put your body into starvation mode

I have the lose it app I like that one better but it does really help and I should be joining the gym in the next 2 weeks
