Glasses and 4 year olds

posted 11th Jan
So my 4 year old went to her appointment to see if she could get into pre k, and had a health evaluation.
During the vision test she could not see the shapes unless they were in the two top rows from far away.
So, glasses are needed before she can be considered since it's not really going to benefit her being in school if she can't see anything.

Do they take 4 year olds at walmart? She has insurance through her dad, but I am worried about co pays and such. I also dont see any other places that take her insurance.
Anyone ever taken a kid this young to do the exam? Do they do the puff of air in the eye for glaucoma? Cause I hate that, I don't want her to hate the eye doctor like I did for the longest time.
Ugh, I knew she needed glasses, but apparently she needs them more than I thought and now I feel bad. =/

This was our second evaluation.
First one was for intelligence and speech.
This one they tested physical ability, vision, hearing, weighed and measured her, checked to see if she was color blind and checked her depth perception.
I'm sure I'm forgetting some things, we were there for over an hour today.
We have another appointment once they write up and file everything.

I had glasses in kindergarten, so this isn't too far off.

I've always been worried about refusing it and ending up with glaucoma and going blind cause I was being a baby about it.

Ehh I don't really care. I guess I should but I really don't. It pisses me off that so many optometrists do it when there's another way.

Wow. My kids didn't have to go through all that for pre k. Just the basic shapes, colors, ect.... why do they want height/weight??

What if they are deemed not intelligent enough? Are they put in a special class or told to wait another year?
