Taking my freaking benefits and i dunno what to do *rant*
posted 11th Jan
Okay so a couple months before I went on maternity leave I called my benefits line and spoke to a representative to make sure I would be covered with my insurance since my job requires a minimum number of hours in a quarter to be eligible for benefits. The rep told me it wouldn't be a problem, good luck with the baby, and that was it. He never mentioned that I had to apply for a leave of absence...
So here I am, two weeks before my last doc appointment, and I get some papers in the mail saying I'm going to lose my benefits. My last appointment is on the 31st and my DD has shots on feb 14th... as of the first I have no more insurance.
Why wasn't I freaking told I had to apply for a leave of absence?? Nobody mentioned it at work, the rep didn't mention it when I called and asked. Now I'm sitting here wondering if my DD will be able to get her shots. I'm going to apply for medicaid as soon as I can. The insurance did tell me they were opening a special case file, a sort of appeal, to get the leave of absence approved even thought it was past 30 days since I took off of work. I should hear back within 5 business days, so next Friday. I guess with the PPD and all the other stresses going on right now I'm just freaking out and ready to throttle someone.
I could easily qualify for medicaid, I don't make much at all at my work. I know for sure I could get DD on it but I've run into a problem with getting me much help.
I moved to Mississippi almost 2 years ago. But I've yet ot be able to get myself on my feet. I'm living with SO's parents, they kindly gave me a place to stay after my house caught fire even when SO and I were just friends. One thing after another (I wont bore you with all of it) and I wasn't able to get a place in my name, with big bills in my name. Mississippi has requirements for proof of domicile to get a Mississippi ID, which I need to prove I'm a resident to get on Mississippi medicaid... only I don't have any of the big bills in my name that are on the acceptable list for proof of domicile. *sigh* DD is the most important, so I'm sure she will get coverage, no problem. Just seems like something is going wrong at every turn.
I'm ready to just bash my face into the wall for a while.
