Last drink of the night?

posted 11th Jan
I'm potty training my almost 3 year old (in 2 weeks). I still plan to keep in him pullups at night, but I want to establish a routine for night time training.

What is a good time to stop giving him liquid? He usually goes to bed at 10pm.

All the kids in my household take a glass of water to bed with them.
I really don't think not giving a drink after a certain time effects the whole wetting during the night thing.

Holayy @ 10pm

I would pay attention to how often he pees... like if it's every 2 hours (approx), then nothing past 8pm.

Now that DD's potty trained we do this as well, when she being trained we couldn't because she'd piss herself in the morning after she woke up and before we got to her.

I agree! I always make sure my kids have water when they go to bed.

Though, I do however think that drinking water does in fact effect them depending on if they have a lot or a little.

He goes to bed at 10 because my DH doesn't get home until 8:45/9. It's the only time he gets to spend with him, unfortunately.

My husband will give him an 8-ounce cup of drink at like 9:15/9:30 and when he wakes up at 7am, his diaper is sagging.

I would reduce the amount and see if that helps. Also consistency in what time you get him up helps. If we are late getting ds up... he will have an accident. If he drinks a whole 8 oz right before bed... he is more likely to have an accident. We used pullups at night until ds didn't want them anymore.

DS wants to wear underwear but he isn't even potty trained yet. Not even a little bit. Today is our first day because DH forgot to buy more diapers and pullups.

He usually gets up at 7/7:30 every morning and comes to wake me up.

Savannah stopped wetting the bed at night. Don't give him anything pass 7 or 8 only because they go to bed with a full bladder. They may not have to pee then but he will soon after he falls asleep. I would out water by his bed side AFTER he falls asleep. Just in case he wakes up thirsty in the middle of the night. I got Savannah in the routine to get up at night because when I get up in the middle of the night I take her to the bathroom with me. After a while she started getting up by herself.

JJ doesn't wake up during the night. He sleeps from whenever I put him down until the next morning. Potty training is so hard, lol.

You have to train him. When you get up to pee, get him up to pee as well.

I'll see how he is without having anything else to drink for the night. I just hate waking him up because he sleeps so well.
