quaternium-15 and other Carcinogens

posted 11th Jan
I have just learned about this and other carcinogens in Johnson and Johnson's baby shampoo. I am so confused! I mean just learning this makes me want to stop using it. I looked at the list of other brands that also have some of this quaternium-15 in it. From my research it looks like some other brands have much more in it. So do you think its Ok to keep using J&J because they have less than other or is it just not acceptable to have any?

How do you feel about this? Have you stopped using J&J or switched to their organic line? I am now using another organic brand

I still use it because I got a smurf load of body wash at my baby shower.

Pretty much all baby soap has poly-quanternium in it. It's formaldyhide and it's designed to preserve the stuff.

I switched over to doctor bronners, which I don't think it has it in it, and we also buy all natural goats milk soap with honey local.

Yes it burns the eyes, we just don't put it near it! Luckily my kids have no hair so no worries about washing it!

I saw that J& J had it then I looked up all soaps that had it and found that J&J had MUCH less than other brands, I can't remember the exact numbers but the J&J we use was about .8mIU while other brands have 10, 12 or 18mLU so I feel like sticking with the one we have been using that is .8 is pretty safe.

But I do like to use natural brands, I just feel like they often lie about just how "organic" they really are.

That's why I use Dr. Bronners. It's also fair trade, not really organic.

And then like I said I have a woman here who makes her soap with organic oils, she doesn't use any fruity smells, it's so wonderful.

They're more expensive at times but so worth it.
