how would you deal with this?

Logan keeps climbing on his dresser, he cant climb down himself.

as a kid my brother got stuck in a tree and freaked out, my dad watched and made him climb down himself.
I dont really know what a good parent would do in this case, but he keeps climbing up there like every chance he gets, plays for a few mins and then calls for us. the last time i sat on his bed and chatted with him for a bit about not climbing up if he cant get down. well half an hour later and he is up there.
he is calling for me now, i went over and said well i told you not to climb up if you cant get down, now you can sit up there for a minute and think about that. i think i just want him to sweat a little. he isnt calling for me, he gets distracted easily hes not even worried, just looking out his window and stuff. i think this approach is kinda mean (if it were working) though but im not sure what else to do, anyone have any suggestions?

he is three btw, kinda delayed communication so im not sure he understood my chat earlier.

As long as its not tall enough for him to get hurt I'd make him get down. My dd used to get up in the bathroom counter. I showed her how to roll on her belly and get down. Because one time she tried and just slid off and scraped her whole back up   It was awful and painful  )

I'd leave him up there. But, as a side note, is his dresser attached to the wall? If not, I'd do that ASAP before he flips it over on himself. My oldest was almost crushed like that.

I don't think you're being mean, but I don't know what the right approach is either.

Alyssa use to climb on top of her dresser.

She always got down on her own, but her climbing on it made me nervous.

All I did was start putting stuff on top of her dresser to block her from getting up there.

If he likes getting on his dresser to look out the window (I'm not sure if that's the only reason he climbs up there), why not move the dresser away from the window ?

aw yeah logie did that on our bed, scraped his back along the metal frams  
unfortuanately this dresser is pretty high, comes up to about my shoulder. he gets up by climbing the little handles, not so sure he would have the precision trying to get down the same way, kwim?

i think maybe if i move the bed so he could get down easily that would be mice but then he would make a feild day out of jumping from the dresser to the bed

Teach him how to get down on his own. That way he wont get hurt climbing. My daughter is a freaking monkey and climbs on everything!

That's why Alyssa climbing on her dresser made me nervous. It wasn't attached to the wall or anything, and I was always paranoid it would flip on top of her.

he doesnt have a lamp anymore for one thing lol

i could probably put some heavy duty stuff up there like boxes or whatever maybe that would work.

My short, 6 year old sister does the exact same thing with the kitchen counters. The best approach that I've taken with her was to just simply explain the potential consequences that come along with climbing ontop of a high surface like so.

Ooh that's a little scary. Do u know why he's climbing? Like someone else said if he's trying to look out the window maybe put skmething else there that's a little lower and easier to climb down and doesn't risk being top heavy and flipping

They sell straps and mounting kits at stores like Home Depot. You just screw them into the studs. Takes just a few mins but can save your kids life.

They have dresser straps at babies R us.

If you don't think he could get down on his own then maybe you could take out the handles for now so he can't climb up there.
