Military Spouses taking college classes?

I'm considering going back to school and was curious what grants/assistance options I have. My husband is in the Air Force and I have heard other military spouses saying that there are things set up, is this true? Are there online options open to us because of possible moves and all of that?

I've literally just started researching so I'm at step 1 in pursuing this, any advice?

ETA: My husband is not reenlisting so he is getting out Jan 2014, we want to use the GI Bill so he can finish his degree.

I want to know this too. My fiance and I are getting married soon he is in tech school now & I am currently taking this semester off of college since we will be having a baby and moving. I am wondering if it will be worth going back to college or if I will end up in more debt then what I will be making.

You can research MyCAA. Its funding for military spouses but there are some requirements involved. Whatever college you choose, your credits should transfer. There are a lot of military friendly colleges around, whether there are universities or local community colleges.

I just used FAFSA and qualified for the pell grant. It paid for everything plus some at the local community college.

Is there usually somewhere on base that I can talk to an adviser about this? I know there was for my husband but I didn't know if the spouse had that option to. I am so overwhelmed I don't even know where to start, I just decided on this decision this morning lol

DH has pell grant so hopefully I would qualify as well, I could use his left overs plus mine in that case. I vaguely remember FAFSA when I was in college years ago, I will look that up again, thanks!

Yep, there should be. What is the name of the base you are on? We have school advisors and reps from a lot of the popular tech schools, universities and community college on post. I'll see if I can find something for you.

As someone mentioned, you should fill out your FAFSA also. You can do it online and its a step by step process.

That's awesome thats what I've been doing all along so it wont be something new.

there is the military spouse grant. And I got hooked up with American InterContinental University through my old base. They are really easy to work with and I've had a great experience with them. Oh and I'm all online no campus stops needed.

I'm also using my fafsa and some loans and the pell grant.

If you scroll down, there's information about the universities that are on your post. You also have the option of attending these colleges OFF post. When they are on post, that usually just mean that they offer certain classes and the teachers come on post to instruct them. Contact information and counselors are towards the top.
