Possible miscarriage

posted 11th Jan
How possible is it to have heard a heartbeat and then 2 days later have an ultrasound and find no baby? So as of today I should be 10 weeks and 1 day. I had my first ultrasound today and she could see the yolk sac but no baby. I used a fetal doppler 2 days ago and could have sworn I heard a heartbeat. Yes I know it's possible it was mine, but I checked my heart rate also just to be sure I wasn't confused. Mine was in the 80s while the heartbeat I heard was in the very low 100's. Is it still possible it was mine? And is there any possibility whatsoever that I may have just already been losing the baby and thus would not be able to see it during my ultrasound today? Or would we still have been able to see the baby if I had just miscarried? I'm just trying to figure out when I may have lost the baby and if it was actually my heartbeat I heard the other day. Also, I have had no spotting of any sort this whole pregnancy. I know there are cases where you could not have spotting from a miscarriage, but could that happen this late into it or does it not really matter?

Any help is appreciated, this is hard and I'm just trying to figure this all out. Thanks.

If there was no fetal pole in the u/s then it was a blighted ovum and there never was a heartbeat. The baby's HB on the doppler is very distinct from the other beats you can pick up. Even without measuring you can tell it's much faster. I'm so sorry.

The first trimester is he most critical cause thats when most women lose their babies! I miscarried with my first and let me say it was painful but I also had a little bleeding before the miscarriage. With this pregnancy I saw the heartbeat on the ultrsound at 7wks we wasn't able to hear on the doppler until 12wks. Im not an expert but try to think positive and I hope everything works out in your favor GOOD LUCK MOMMY

I would ask your dr these sorts of questions.... When I misscarried at 11 weeks the hospital didnt tell me much except that I had a misscarriage and sent me home. When I passed out in my bathroom and ended up bleeding so much that they almost did a blood transfusion I met a gyncologist who explained things to me a lot more then what the ultrasound tech/hospital staff did.. Still dont understand everything though. The baby stopped growing at 6 weeks I didnt start bleeding lightly till 11 weeks.

Yes this was my first ultrasound. I had my positive on November 30th and my last period was November 2nd. I was reading online and I feel a little bit better. I was reading that maybe I could have ovulated later than I thought and maybe I am just not as far along as I thought I was. I am hoping that's what it is. I got off of implanon in July so maybe my cycles weren't completely back to normal. I don't want to get my hopes too high but it would be nice if there is still a baby in there somewhere
