if you have the flu

If you have the flu, do the docs even do anything for it?

over the past few days, I've been slowly getting sick. Today its a sore throat, headache, slight cough, and I feel run down

I also have my period so that can explain the fatigue and headache


I think it is a cold. Everyone tells me it HAS to be the flu (even though I have no fever or any other of the hallmarks of the flu)

If it is the flu, can the docs even do anything?

I had the flu a month or so ago. They gave me something for it, I can't remember what it is but it was supposed to reduce the severity of the flu and possibly shorten it.

for the flu remember FACTS . Fever, Aches, Chills, Tiredness, and Sudden onset. what you have sounds like a cold

My son had the flu and when i took him to the dr they said they could give him threaflu or something like that but since the symptoms were going on for over 48 hours it wouldnt do anything.. So i just had to let it take its course..
ETA: It's not theraflu it is tamiflu.

IF it is the flu, and your within 2 days of symptoms starting (which sounds like tis been longer) they can give you tamilu which can shorten the flu's duration by 30%

Even if you're past the 2 days you can still be seen, they'll swab your nose to see if it actually is the flu and then you can get tamilu for your family members. It can help keep them from getting it.

If it were the flu you would know...also they do give anti virals out for it.

I had the flu before Xmas and they gave me tamiflu. I wasn't completely over it and took all the tamiflu and now I just have to let it ride its course. It sucks, but I just keep myself hydrated and take tylenol.

If I don't feel better tomorrow, I might head to aftercare to see if I have strep throat. My biggest complaint right now is just a sore throat

If its not more than 4 days? They will give you tamiflu
