ADHD

My son was recently diagnosed with ADHD & they have him on adderall.. He started the pills Tuesday morning & Tuesday night & last night he woke up at like 2am & never went back to sleep!! So I'm planning on calling the dr & letting her know..& maybe see if she can give him something else..
If you have children that are on any medication for ADHD & you like it please let me know!

He may only need it once a day.

I took Concerta when I was 10 for it and never had any problems with it making me hyper- maybe try that or seeing if he can take it once in the morning. You might have to start waking him up earlier just so the medication can work through his system during the day when he's active.

On Tuesday we did only give it to him once but yesterday I have him one in morning & then one around like 5 because the dr said if e needs another one I could give him another.. But I also don't think it's really working like it opposed to either or maybe it takes a week or so to start working??

Idk my brother only took it once a day. When he started sports and NEEDED at night he took straterra. But not another adderall. He wouldn't sleep because it doesn't allow you to relax, it is designed to make you focus. You can't sleep when you're focused. Think about when you're exhausted and drive home and you have to be super focused on driving. Then when u get home you're exhausted but u just can't physically sleep because you're so alert from the overly focused driving unjust had to do.
Since he's just starting I would do once in the morning. Do that consistently for awhile and see when it is wearing off for him. If he's making it through the school day but not his homework at night maybe do one more RIGHT after school. But if it's wearing off after he gets done with homework I'd leave the dosage alone. Its better to start by under-medicating than to over medicate. You can always add but it's harder to find a balance and you can mess up your cycles if your over medicate.
And if he does end up needing an after school boost for homework time he may need a smaller dose that would wear off before bedtime.

I cant believe they said to give him another one.
My son was recently put on Vyvanse for ADHD. I love it. He gets it in the morning and hes good to go all day. Its a time release so in my opinion better than Adderal.

Omg noooooo don't give it at night! If anything second dose should be at like lunch time. A stimulant will keep you awake

Dylan gets that way sometimes, but I think thats just him being him. Im ok with it after school. As long as he behaves at school its ok

Yeah I just don't know how she is at the end of the day, since I make her read to me right when we get home, and she's started going back to her lame "I don't know how to read" behavior
