Settling techniques

posted 11th Jan
LO is 2 weeks old and will not settle at all.
He will have his feed, brings up wind half way through then again when he is finished (so I know wind isn't his problem). Clean nappy, full tummy, bath, nursing....iv tried everything. He will be asleep on me after he brings up his wind and when I'm walking him upstairs to his bassinet, but by the time I get back down stairs he's awake and crying again. Iv also tried rocking his bassinet, sleeping him on his back, side or tummy, but nothing is working.
I'd love to be able to sit and hold him all day, but I also have 2 other children to look after.

Anyone have any other ideas I could try?
I feel myself heading one step closer to a white padded room with every day that passes....HELP!!!

You have to give it time. He is only 2 weeks old. My son was about a month when i was finally able to do things and lay him down without him having to be attached to me. Sometimes you just have to let them cry for a bit. One thing that helped my son out alot was a sound machine. It has about 5 different sounds on it and From day one ive used to to calm him down and it works. I still use it and he will be 1 in a month!

Try one of the heartbeat bears and swaddle him with a blanket that you slept with against your skin. He will be comforted by your scent

A sound machine? Iv never heard of them before. I know it's only early days. I guess I just have to come to terms with all babies being different. My daughter and son were both great sleepers from day one, and still are. So I guess 2 out of 3 is pretty good

Have you tried babywearing? I just got a Moby wrap for DD and I love it. She gets to be held and I have my hands free to do things. She sleeps much more soundly in it, too.

A moby wrap?
I have a sling which I used for my 2nd born, but not until at least 3 months. I tried putting LO in it the other day when I went shopping, but I feel as though its going to suffocate him. I'm not real comfortable using it this early on.

There are carriers you can use for newborns...Not necessarily the Moby, although that is great. It's a little pricey...but you can make your own.
