Tooth pulled, clot question

posted 11th Jan
I had a molar pulled monday. im scared SmurfLESS im about to have a dry socket. I havent dislodged my clot, but the top wound is a lot more narrow than I think it should be. As if the gum is healing over the top, over the clot. Anyone ever have a dry socket? What are the symptoms that its about to happen?
I go back on wednesday to have another tooth pulled.   I dont want a dry socket!!! :*(

I hear its worse than labor pain.
Just no vigorous activity, smoking or using a staw you should be fine

I had a tooth pulled a few months ago. The clot dislodged and I ended up with a dry socket. I had always heard it's the worst pain in the world. It wasn't! It wasn't even comparable to the pain of the infected tooth (the one that got pulled). It does cause bad pain (For me it felt .... i'm not sure how to describe it exactly, almost like a cold tingling pain that went into my jaw and made it ache)

If you get a dry socket you go back to your dentist and they will pack it with this foul tasting stuff until it starts to heal. It was frustrating because I couldn't eat properly and the stuff they use to pack it with tastes awful, but I only ended up getting it packed 3 times and once the packing was in the pain stopped because the bone wasn't exposed anymore.

I think if your clot is still there you should be good. My dentist said it's when the clot gets dislodged within the first couple of days that you are most likely to get a dry socket. (Not sure if that's right but it's what I was told, I lost my clot on the second day)

You actually need no mouth suctioning - so if you are a tooth grinder at night, you an be in trouble with that. :/

The way I lost my clot was seeing my daughter do something bad which made me clench my teeth together and pierce my lips, which the suction from that in turn dislodged the clot. I blame her for my dry socket hahaha.

Thanks gals. I haven't used a straw and i don't smoke. The clot is there, I'm just nervous if the top heals over the clot, my body will absorb the clot and then ill have a dry socket. ;/ I've heard it is almost unbearable pain and medications don't help at all. -_- aunt nobody got time for that!

If they tissue heals over it then you're not going to get dry socket because the clot won't be able to be dislodged. Just take it easy no suckin and your good
