Car Seats

posted 10th Jan
I am looking into getting a new car seat for both DD and DS

DD is 3 so I am wanting to get her a high back booster seat that still has the five point harness for her until she is old enough and big enough to use the seat belt alone.

DS is only 7 months so I of course still need a RF car seat for him, but I am looking for a convertible one now that will fit easily in a small car. (2012 Kia Forte)

I also transport my 7 almost 8 year old niece who is and will still be in a booster seat herself as she is so tiny so being able to fit that in between my kids car seats is a must.

Am open for any suggestions opinions. Ready GO!

Harmony boosters are pretty narrow and you can get them at Walmart for cheap for the 8 year old.

For the 3 yr old I recommend the Graco Nautilus or Argos, Britax Frontier 85. There's a new Harmony harnessed booster called the Defender 360 that is exclusively available at Walmart and it harnesses til 65lbs and boosters to 110lbs for around $100.

For the 7 month old, small seats. Theres the Combi Coccoro is great for small cars. There's also the Safety 1st guide 65 which is around $80 and fits great in small cars as well.

If you can afford it .. Diono Radian. Hands down. You can fit 3 across in a normal backseat too so I'm sure you can fit a booster between.

There's no point in getting a convertible for a 3 year old because you're not going to use it RF(in her case). She'd save more money getting a combination seat for her 3 year old.
Also, Radian's are notorious for being a PITA in small cars.

Well it'd also be good for the 3 year old because it harnesses to 65 (or maybe was more) and boosters to 120. Everyone I talked to the other day said it fit just fine so I dunno.

It harnesses to 85.

Have you seen the Radian installed without an angle adjuster? It's monstrous

The graco my size/size for me is good too

But for your 3 year old I would go straight for the frontier to make sure she will be harnessed the longest

Yeah I thought it might be 85 but wasn't sure. I dunno. Personally I'd still get it with an angle adjuster if it worked, that's just me. I'd rather have the option to harness longer and RF longer height wise. We're going with a radian this go for Anwen and will be switching Rory once we're able.
