Vbac question....

posted 10th Jan
So I have done a ton of research on Vbacs but haven't been able to find out if you actually HAVE to be hooked up to monitors/IV fluids while attempting your vbac...

I want to have a VBAC where I am not monitored constantly and where I am not hooked up to an IV...

It would depend on the OB or hospital. You might have better luck if you attempt a VBAC at a birthing center.

You don't have to. You can request limited monitoring like once an hour of so. But I think a lot of it would depend on why you had the first one. If it was because of your bp of the baby's heart rate they probably wouldn't allow it.

Well I was induced because of my bp going up (150s/90s) and 3+ protein in my urine... I'm hoping next time I wont develop that.

I would really talk to your doctor and see how they feel about it.

Depends on where you go. My VBAC is in about 5 weeks, I do have yo be constantly monitored but no IV. Just a heplock.

Good luck with it!! Do you mind if I PT you to see how it goes? I'm trying to find a birth center but we don't really have any around here..

Thank you! Nope go right ahead. The closest birth center is 4 hours away from me and i live in Atlanta! Luckily my doctor is a VBAC guru. He has even delivered 2 triplet VBACs, so im glad i found him.

Wow well if you could have any doctor he sounds like the best to have!! I don't know how my doctor feels about vbacs or how many he has done. He just suggested I could have one with my future babies during my csection lol. I had a csection a year ago so we are waiting 2 years to get pregnant just to increase the chances of a vbac! Ill definitely talk to him before hand but I seriously doubt they will let me not be hooked up to monitors.

He is awesome and fully supports vbacs. I waited 4 years after my csection but I had twins lol. I also had to switch OBs, it was a bit academy but sooooo worth it. Try and find your local ICAN chapter, they will point you in the right direction.
