Marijuana & Delivery?

So once I found out I was prego I smoked MJ for about 2 Months then I quit for like 6 Months, when I was 8 Months I was really stressed out with things so I started smoking again, Trust Me I LOVE MY BABY. I hate when people say just because I smoked MJ I DESERVE to have my baby taken and all this BS. Once he is in the outside world he'll never see me smoke, he'll never be around he'll never know what it is until he gets into highschool probably. Well the whole reason I'm here is because I'm wondering In the state of CA do they drug test babys? Do they do it if you had admited to using? My aunt said when she had her first baby they drug tested it and took her away only for a couple hours I think and CPS came to talk to her she was only caught using MJ, but they tested the baby because my aunt had seeked no prenatal care. I go to all my prenatal appointments. I love my baby boy I can't live without him can someone tell me what happens if I test dirty in the state of CA? No rude comments please. Don't waste your time unless you're being honest. I don't want your opinion thanks.

I don't know for sure, but I would think they would only spend the money to test if they had a reason to think they needed to.

And I don't think you're a bad mom for doing what you did, for whatever that's worth.

I don't think they test here unless they are suspicious. I have frinds that smoked while in labor (in San Diego co) and the baby was never tested.

I know in Hawaii they test you for drugs throughout your pregnancy(you have to sign a waiver to let them do that) and at birth if you're suspected to have taken drugs during your pregnancy they will test it....

I've never heard of a hospital randomly drug testing a baby...If your that worried then stop smoking.

I dont think they do, i think they only test you if they have a reason to.

Do not mention the pot to ANY medical professionals or they may consider testing. Otherwise you should be okay. Don't let the nurses change your babies diaper either. Do it yourself and dispose of the diaper immediately.

My parents have smoked weed all of my life. They never hid it from me. They didn't just hot box the house or anything but they never tried to hide it. Honestly, I really respect them for that.

Either way, I have heard of hospitals testing the baby once they are born but I do not know who or how often they do it. I do know that while I was pregnant, in Ohio, every time they took my urine at an appointment they drug tested it.

You ARE NOT a bad mother....a friend of mine smoked during her pregnancy because she was losing extreme amounts of weight due to nausea. Alot of women do it, for recreational purposes and medical reasons.

Wouldn't matter, meconium can collect anything from the last trimester.

I smoked before I went to the hospital and they didn't drug test my son. I live in IL though.

Also I smoked through all three of mine. I quit at the 3rd trimester of my second baby because the midwives warned me that they would be drug testing (no reason - just felt like it.) Baby came out clean.

A vast majority of hospitals will only drug test baby if they suspect prenatal drug use. Usually the red flag is when babies show some signs of possible withdrawl. Sometimes the hospital will run a drug screen on mum, and if she's positive they then test baby's blood, urine and meconium.

General rule of thumb is if you can pass a drug test, baby can pass a drug test (except with meconium. Meconium shows everything from 3 months on)

I don't think they'd be suspicous of me, I mean I'm so ready for my little one I have everything he could possibly need the diaper bag/hospital bag is ready, I have his car seat ready, I want to give him nothing but the best. Even if I did quit now it would still be in his system which sucks if they do test him. I really hope not. Two of my friends weren't tested although I doubt they smoked. & My sisters friend smoked through out her whole pregnancy and wasn't tested. I just feel like I'm the type of person with bad luck though. Anyone from experiance?

You can request that baby's first bath and all diaper changes be done by you and your SO only.
