wtf I can't believe she just said this to me!!!

posted 10th Jan
Wow. I was talking to my mom about how my husband doesn't do much around the house to help clean or keep it clean. She starts on me about how I need to stop asking advice if I wasn't going to take it. Well, I said that yes, I'm tired of feeling like I'm not getting any help... but I'm just tired of that, that's it. How about she goes and says "well then you need to move out and leave his lazy ass!" Umm first off, no. Second off, just because I'd like more help than I'm getting doesn't mean I want to leave my husband. Wtf. I just hung up. I'm tired of her telling me to avoid negativity and then giving me negativity. Its frikkin bullsmurf. I'm tired of it. Smh. I LOVE my husband. I'm not gonna lie, yes. I do complain about not getting help when I need it, but that is NOT saying I am unhappy with my marriage, bc I'm far from it. am I over reacting getting angry with my mom for saying something like this? I mean, every time we have an argument she tells me I need to leave (while she just LETS my dad talk to her like a stupid dog...) and I'm tired of hearing that. Shows me that she doesn't think I can work out our problems... just bc I tell you about a problem we had, doesn't mean I'm wanting to take the easy way out bc I will not do it...

Well if every time you talk about him you are complaining then what do you expect?

I think you overreacted by hanging up. lol. but I know what you mean... sometimes I just want to vent about things that piss me off with SO, but I can't do that with my mum without her taking it as him being the biggest POS in the world... which is honestly not my intention.

Maybe she tells you to leave because she wants to leave your dad and doesn't feel strong enough? Maybe she's worried that you're going to be in that situation, too? I know it's obviously not the right advice, but it sounds like she may be reacting out of fear.

I was actually just thinking this... maybe she doesn't want you to end up stuck in a smurffy situation you can't get out of... like it seems like she is?

I talk high of him more than I complain. She loves him, but every time we argue (which is rare) she wants to try and say there's something wrong with our relationship.

I think hanging up on her was childish.

Could be. Idk. And only reason I hung up was to chill and avoid another argument, childish or not... it was something I felt was needed to be done.

She's probably worried things may end up like they did for her and she wants better for you. I know the way she is saying it doesn't seem like the best but I would assume she has better intentions behind it than just wanting you to throw happiness away.

I can understand if she's worried about that but saying something like this every time we even have a minor argument over whatever is just a bit uncalled for, in my opinion. Good intentions or not.

Lol true. Dogs are not stupid. Probably the smartest animals there are aside from chimpanzees and other monkeys.

Before I complain about my husband to my mom, I always say "don't forget there's two sides to my story!" Just explain to your mom you're venting (like everyone in the world does at some point) and you'd appreciate her positive support. If she can't do that, then maybe you shouldn't be complaining to her - some people are incapable of hearing both sides without judging.

That's something I'll definitely start doing.

This is what I have learned. If I complain and vent.to my family they.will look down on my husband. So I don't. I do vent to my sister and she vents to me about her husband because they are alot alike. But I do not vent to my family. I vent to my sil lol. Or friends that can relate.

Your family wants the best for you.
