I would want to murder anyone that touched my baby and believe pedophiles have a psychlogical disorder. However I wonder how science will view it in 10-20 years. I only say that because homosexuality used to be considered a perversion and to most now it is completely accepted. Like I said in the beginning I would want to murder anyone who hurt my baby and think it is a disorder that you don't choose to have, and like other disorders it also hurts others.

I didn't read it all but I do think that it's definitely a mental problem. I think that someone with pedophilic thoughts should be able to seek help without persecution. A lot of them realize that they are disgusting but just can't help the thoughts.

Much too long and sickening for me to read. No, it's not a sexual orientation, they're still straight/gay/bi whatever. The preference in age or looks or whatever are not sexual orientations.

But yeah it's something they're born with and can't change.

Ugh, I could only read a little, it started making me feel sick to my stomach that some nasty dude did that to a innocent little girl. I don't think it is a sexual orientation, it is a psychological issue. They do need to be locked up & kept away from harming innocent little kids.

Relationships, whatever the orientation are for consenting adults. Not for children who don't know and aren't nearly mature enough to consent. It's not an orientation. It's disturbing and sick.

From what I have seen the only time a pedophile can get treatment is once they have already been caught hurting a child.

It might be a "sexual orientation" I guess, but----it isn't one that's victimless and that's where my problem is.

kids can't consent to that. Period. If you are a pedo, you are, and will always be, a rapist.

I personally believe it's a factor of many things. Some people become paedophiles due to being molested as children, that doesn't mean they were born with it. But obviously the cycle has to start somewhere so I do believe people are born that way too.

I think there should be a way that people can get help for their feelings around it before they end up hurting someone. But I do think saying that it's a sexual orientation kinda ... Tones down what it actually is KWIM? In the article it says that a man fell in love with a 7 year old girl and started a relationship with her. I don't believe you can start a relationship with a 7 year old girl because she is 7. She doesn't know what's going on.

What about pedophiles that only become pedophiles after they themselves have suffered sexual abuse?
then doesnt that idea that they are born that way get canceled out, would it be more of they are a product of there environment?

Reading this made me sick. I was sexually abused by my biological father from the time I was an infant until I was 13. He also had a great sex life with my mom (she was NOT the quiet type). I believe its a mental illness if that. Definitely not a sexual orientation. It sickens me to think that people are trying to make pedophiles seem not so bad by saying they just have a sexual preference. Noooooo way. That's horrible and disgusting.

What if it was due to being molested as a child? Does that mean everyone who was molested as a child for many many years by multiple people, should be put down just in case?

I was molested as a child, I have had people say that because of that I should not be anywhere near children and should have to give mine up. I don't think that's true.

Absolutely a sexual orientation, it bothers regular people to think of pedophiles in the same light they do gays or people interested in animals, but it's absolutely a sexual orientation, that's factual.

I should add just so people aren't offended, being gay hurts absolutely nobody, it's between consenting adults and nobody's concern. Same with being into specific fetishes regarding adults. But being a pedophile or a necrophiliac is psychologically the same, it's an abnormality in their mind.

It's very sad, it's hard for people to feel sorry for pedophiles because we prioritize children first (rightfully so) but it is not a nice feeling to be attracted to something socially unacceptable like children, corpses or animals.
