haven't read all the comments but anyway. If your baby wont eat any more, then bub obviously isn't hungry and doesn't need rice cereal in it. Could be gas, could be tired/over tired, could just be having a whinge for no reason, it is possible.

unless the baby has a medical condition like reflux then its not a good idea. you can do what you want but it can lead to child obesity, diabeties not to mention it has arsenic in it. its just a filler with empty carbs, starches and sugar... you baby needs formula, if you give baby cereal then they wont get the nutritian they need because they wont eat as much.

I had the same issue with my son, he wouldnt drink more than five ounces but would scream hunger an hour later. At first i put one tsp for a five ounce bottle, but most of the time it clogged the nipple and he would get upset so that didnt last long. Instead i started giving him cereal in the morning and in the evening on a spoon, much better. He wasnt screaming he was hungry an hour later. And before anyone tears me a new one for the cereal in the bottle or cereal before six months, i did the same with my other two children and they turned out fine

I have given all my children rice cereal from 4 months and they are all fine aswell :-) My little one, who is now 18 weeks I don't actually give her much rice cereal anymore at moment she has something else instead once a day. Just simple 1 ingredient food, so far she has had apple, pear, sweet potato, avocado and I pretty sure pumpkin. She has 3 tablespoons (yes after a breast feed) and cracks if you don't feed her fast enough LOL. She was a fairly big girl when born 9lb 9 oz, not sure if that has anything to do with her appetite. I did give her 2 solid feeds one day but then she skipped 2 milk feeds so I cut it back to just 1 for a while again now as milk feed is more important.

It's still not recommended till 6 months, it can cause stomach problems later in life.

Everyone is entitled to do whatever they please with THEIR child, just because you dont agree with it and its not something you would do with your own child does not give you the right to tear them a new one. You have the right to your opinion but not to critisizse what others do. The original poster wasnt asking YOU to give YOUR child cereal, she was asking for advice on HOW MUCH. This site is so mothers can ask each other for help and advice, not for some to go off on tangents spouting whats RIGHT AND WRONG in their eyes.

Noobs? Whats annoying is people who trash others who are only looking for some support. It would be the same as trashing a religion who chooses not to have their child receive medical attention due to their religion, there are plenty of doctors who agree with the rice cereal, and plenty that don't. Whats right for one baby is not right for another. She asked a question of her peers and was looking for some supportive answers. Not a bunch of cranky mothers who probably chose to look at the topic just to tear her a new one cause they have nothing better to do. You do as you want with your baby and she and others will do what they want with theirs. Besides, our parents gave rice cereal before six months, and so did our grandparents. Things are constantly changing so who is to say what is right and wrong. Certainly not you!

I'm legitimately not even reading that. You've been here three seconds, stop spouting off about what the site is for. It gets tedious.

You know what? I have read all the posts for this topic and I find people like you who trash others not even worth my time.
