Then your mom was an idiot. Talk to a pediatrician if you don't like the answers you get on here.
Babies digestive tracts are too under developed until 6 months to digest empty calories like rice cereal.
If he is hungry feed him more, if he doesn't want more then her is not hungry.

0. It's a choking hazard.

Baby rice has NO nutritional value anyway, you shouldn't even give it to him on a spoon. Oatmeal is better if you MUST, but that's really nothing but starch too. It's not good for them.

THIS.

0 spoon fulls. Its dangerous and he is to young for solids anyway.
This is around the age that they go through a growth spurt. That does not mean to feed them solids.

How do you know he is hungry still? What is he doing to make you think he is still hungry? Babies sometimes act like they are hungry because of gas pains.

IF he was hungry then he would eat more formula, why is that not sinking in. You didn't say anything about feeding him from a spoon, you asked how much to put in a 5 oz bottle.

If hes not sleeping then there is something else wrong. He probably needs a new formula, some babies have cows milk allergies which can upset their belly.

Umm, how do you not know that it is normal for babies to wake up during the night to feed? It is NORMAL. It also reduces the risk of SIDS. They are finding that babies who don't sleep as well have a greatly reduced risk of SIDS. I can link you to the studies if you so feel you need to read it.

He is NORMAL. Just feed him more formula or breastmilk.
Babies also over-eat if they have a tummy ache.

Babies can only communicate through sucking and crying. That doesn't necessarily mean he's hungry, though. His tummy is very small, he can only hold so much and you shouldn't fill up that space with starchy rice that holds no nutritional advantage for him just so he'll sleep longer. He's not supposed to sleep through the night yet.

"MYTH #3: ADDING RICE CEREAL TO THE BOTTLE INDUCES SLEEP

A common tidbit of advice for moms is to put rice cereal in a baby's bedtime bottle to help the baby sleep better.
Reality: Not only is this unproven, but adding rice cereal to your baby's bottle can even be dangerous, says Dr Adesman. Research shows no significant difference in sleep patterns between babies given cereal as compared to babies with cereal-free bottles. Many parents believe the cereal will add bulk, slow digestion and prolong a baby's hunger. The truth is you can't regulate your baby's internal clock. More concerning, adding cereal to the bottle of infants under four months can create digestive problems because they won't be able to digest the cereal's nutrients, potentially leading to discomfort as well as illness."

^ MYTHS of infant sleeping patterns! Rice cereal is nothing more then a myth.

This every baby is different. My oldest STTN from day 1. My youngest will be 1 on the 26 and just started consistently sleeping and she still has bad nights way more than my oldest ever did.

its not just a choking hazard. There are SO many reasons as to why you dont do it. Do your research.

Its not just about choking. Its bad for their digestive tracts. It may seem fine at the time but many food allergies don't come out until they are an adult.
