re: Waxing your toddler so they don't get bullied.

I actually agree.
While that might still sound young to some, having a 7 year old and while he doesn't get made fun of, he's come home stressed that some of his friends were making fun of other's, i'd definitely think about it. Cos then it does effect them.

Okay, so if my child was being bullied over her unibrow, I would more than likely do something about it.. but I wouldn't wax them, getting anything waxed before you hit puberty is a no go, it can REALLY mess up your skin. So, I definitely don't agree with the way she did it, but I can kind of see where she was coming from. Her child is already going to be the most talked about kid in her class and people are catty, I can totally see her in kindergarten and some little boy poking fun at her or hell, even the parents of other kids saying something to where their kids catch on and start repeating them. Ya know?

I wouldn't do it. But honestly I don't see how it is any different then piercing a young child/baby ears. Both are for pure vanity and completely unnecessary imo. Im not saying I would never let my daughter pierce her ears or wax/pluck eyebrows, but I would certaintly wait until THEY asked for it. I would never put my child in pain for vanity reasons when they didn't ask for it to be done.

I think it'd be older people who don't like her mom vs her peers at that age.

I think because they were saying at her age, she can comprehend "not being happy with herself" so while getting your ears pierced is something to make you 'prettier' , waxing your unibrow is making you "...less ugly?" "fixing something" on your face.
especially being surrounded by her mom and her multiple cosmetic surgeries.

I think farrah's reasoning is complete hogwash honestly. I think its more along the lines that Sophia's eyebrows bothered Farrah, not Sophia.

Quoting Tiffany ღ:" Lol I know. Exactly why a 3 year old shouldn't have their eyebrows waxed. Their skin is so delicate it could rip right off/irritate the smurf out of it."

Well THAT is a good point.

But the wax should never be hot enough to burn skin. Even little kids' skin. If it is, then you need to find a new waxing tech.

I have a friend who plucked out her entire eyebrows as a teenager and they never grew back. She's well over 30 now and still has to draw them on. Poor thing.

I think it's silly to wax a 3 year old. Goodness... all you gotta do with a 3 year old is make sure they're clean and dressed! And their hair is neat.

Half the time I had a half naked mullet headed kid. Oh well! LOL! But no, I don't see why one would wax a 3 year old child's eyebrows. I don't think it makes her a bad mom, but it's a little TOO superficial. KWIM? The kid's cute anyways, and I didn't notice the unibrow overmuch.

ETA: What if the kid moves and half her eyebrow gets waxed off and never grows back? I'd rather have a kid with a unibrow than 1 1/2 eyebrows!!

Not gonna lie here, if it was really notable, I would use something like Nair. After making sure it didn't irritate their skin, that is.

One of my good friends growing up had a SERIOUS unibrow, not to mention "moustache." She was Indian and of course with all that enviable long thick hair, the body hair thing was more visible too, a kind of trade off I guess. We came up in kindergarten on together and I cannot remember her not being teased about it -- as young as jr k. Her parents finally let her get rid of it around grade 6 and the teasing stopped just like that.

I think I'd spare my child that from the get-go and just make using a simple creme part of their normal routine, like clipping fingernails and having the ends of their hair evened out.

She's a mom trying to protect her kid from getting bullied. Our number one priority as mothers is to protect our kids, that's all she's trying to do.
I understand her thought process but I do think her daughter is a little too young for it right now.

When I was twelve I didn't have breasts like most of peers, I was made fun of, should my parents of gotten me breast implants? When I did get breasts they were larger then most of my peers, I got made fun of, should my parents of gotten me a breast reduction? I got made fun of as a young child, five or so, for glasses should my parents gotten me painful eye surgery that could permanently damage my eye sight?

We as parents can't fix everything, some things we just grow into. Kids are going to be made fun of for everything from names, to color of our shoes. I don't believe in doing cosmetic changes to kids or even myself to look "pretty" or "less ugly." The people who matter to me love me for me, that is why my parents allowed me to be me.

Life-altering/risking surgery is not comparable to using a simple creme to get rid of features that are highly likely to attract bullying.

Let's apply your logic to other things...
Let's never cut our hair, remove warts, treat acne, or put braces on our teeth, because if you don't want to be around me when I look scraggly and unkempt, you don't deserve to be my friend!

Actually you did pretty much sum me up lol. I have a mole on my face, there is no medical reason for it to come off. My friends and family still love me.

I did have to wear a retainer to fix my teeth but it was for medical reason, my two teeth were so bad I couldn't chew certain nutritious foods. It was getting worse too, so I needed to straighten my teeth. I do cut my hair once every two to three years to donate to locks of love. I have yet to cut our three year old's long hair.

I do believe someone shouldn't just like me when I look perfect on the outside. My husband should also love me when I'm sweating, hair tangled, while in labor. Should still love me when I'm sick with red face, drippy nose, and watery eyes. It's like saying my husband would divorce me because he saw my hair before I brushed it.
