Mirena issue

posted 10th Jan
I had mirena inserted oct 2011 my period stopped dec 2011 then in aug 2012 I stated spotting oct I had spotting and dec spotting but it lasted longer and this month I have heavy spotting... I'm scared my mirena isn't working correctly now that I'm having a " period". I use to have very heavy painful periods and after mirena it was just non existent and even with my spotting I have no cramps. Anyone else with mirena have a monthly spotting or full on period. I'm nervous that it means the hormones aren't working. I've called my doctor and they should be calling me back in the next few days.

I had periods while on Mirena. My doctor was shocked that I still did. My period were lighter after my body got used to it.

Have they done the yearly check up to make sure it is working properly? Maybe it is just my OB/midwives but they want me back yearly to make sure it is still in place and to make sure things look okay.

Not all people have AF go away on mirena... there were months that I spotted and some I had AF then there were others with nothing...

I had regular periods on the mirena. I was told they would probably stop eventually, but I only had it in for a year.

No one ever mentioned yearly and I only do my papa every 2 years... I bet they will have me come in if periods aren't common. How do they check to make sure it's still releasing hormones

No, I had it in only a 1 year and 3 months. It was making me acting crazier than normal and my body wasn't liking it.
