is this teething or something else?

posted 10th Jan
So I babysit an 11 month old little boy. I've had him for about 4 weeks now. The entire time I have had him, he has been sick. He can't breathe because his nose is so congested, I can hear it in his chest too. His mom told me he was teething. Except the first week I had him, me and DD got it too, so obviously not teething. It took us about 2 full weeks to get over it. Meanwhile, the little boy has stayed sick. Then his mom told me she thinks he has rsv, and that it wasn't contagious. This women is an lpn, and she tried to tell me that wasnt contagious. So I told her not to bring him back until she took him to the Dr. She again tells me that the Dr says its just teething. My question is, will the congestion be down in his chest if it's teething? The poor thing is miserable, HR can't breathe, he cries all the time, and this has been going on everyday for over a month. Sorry for any mistakes, I'm on my phone.

Teething can lower your immune system which can cause you to get sick but congestion isnt a symptom of teething. He's sick...and possibly teething. She sounds like a silly woman.

Wow sounds like tht LO had a bad cold or something that got down in the lungs an is still causing problems. That has nothing to do with teething.

When you say "silly woman" do you mean "slefish mom"? Because I think that is more what she sounds like

Ok, that's what I thought. His mom is a little strange, she completely acts like there is nothing wrong, and when I bring it up, she acts really surprised like she had no idea. I feel so sorry for the little Guy.

Exactly. I don't know what to do, DD is 11 months old too, and I'm 35 weeks pregnant, so we don't need to be sick. But I feel like no one else gives a smurf about him.

doesnt sound like teething at all. Teething doesnt cause congestion. That poor baby needs to get taken to a peditrician.

What is you offer to take the baby in to see the Dr for her? Say hey I am worried about you baby and I know you are busy would do you me to get him to his appointment?

Then you would know for sure what the baby has

I wonder if she smokes or something around the baby? People who do that have kids who sound like smurf all the time coughing and act like its normal.

I'm not sure if she smokes around him or not. I will offer to take him myself, I hadn't thought of doing that. I'm not sure if she'll let me or not, but all I can do is try.
