bf baby number 2

I breastfed my son for about 9 months about 3 and half years ago and plan on doing this with my newborn but it's hurting when she latches. Is this normal or a bad latch? She was just born last night. Thanks

Probably a bad latch. Talk to the hospitals lactation consultant. Mine helped soooo much with my LO.

i dont think its supposed to hurt if her mouth isnt wide open and u cant hear her suck then shes not on right

She could have a bad latch or your nips are still getting used to it.
Is her mouth nice and wide and her lips untucked?

Sounds like a bad latch!
I BF my first DS but when DD was born I never got the latch right and the nurses didnt help me as much as they did with my first because they thought i had done it before i would be fine!

Ended up with bleeding nipples with blood blisters on them which made it that painful I ended up pumping then my supply dwindled to nothing at about 3 weeks pp.

Yeah the nurse just said she has a good latch but if she didn't the first time then the damage is done

Like pain wise? Yeah if she already made u sore it'll take time to heal mama.

Lanolin should help some...other than that, just make sure she has a good latch every time and it should heal pretty quickly.

i had the most HORRENDOUS nipple pain for almost two weeks, even with a proper latch. she even drew blood on both.

lanolin cream and coconut oil helped me through it  

and now i'm not terrified to feed her anymore

It's gonna hurt for a while, until they heal. But you can do it mama, gets some nipple cream & don't give up. I had medela tender care nipple cream & it is amazing!

Thank you ladies! I have lansinoh and I just sent my mom.to get it. I remember the.first couple Weeks were the hardest but I'm going to stick it out.
