Breastfeeding question

posted 10th Jan
My LO has been full of flu these past 2 days. She has been on my boob constantly which is absolutely fine. However before this we were slowly weaning off and she was only really on at night.

Today with her breast feeding constantly the boob that she isn't drinking from is leaking like a champ all over my clothes and as soon as she has moved her mouth away to stop drinking my boobs are firing milk with force. It was like this when Sophia was a newborn. I haven't produced milk quite like this for months and months. I had stopped buying breast pads!

Is this normal? I'm assuming because she is suddenly feeding frequently again my boobs are producing more than they normally would but I want to be sure!

Thanks x

Even after 17 months? I know they are let downs, I had them constantly when we first breast fed. Just since she started breast feeding less and less until this sickness bug I was surprised they came back like this. As long as its normal.

Haha good idea! Like I say, when she was first born I was literally like a diary farm. Not just one cow.. the whole of them. I was soaked through constantly! But she is 17 months old now and doesn't feed like she used too. I don't even need breast pads normally now so I was surprised to see it coming back the way it has. I guess its from her feeding frequently again with being ill x

Yeah I get them when DD tends to breastfeed more usually happens when she's sick and I don't use pads either. And I've been breastfeeding for 16months.

It always took me 2 days for my supply to increase. If she's been like this for 2 days now then your supply is definitely increasing to her "needs".

Great thank you! This is what I wanted to hear lol. I had a feeling it was just frequent feeding that had brought it back like this... other wise I feared I was producing milk like this again because I was pregnant and didn't know it or something ha.

Interesting! I had always kinda wondered what would happen to your milk if you had got pregnant whilst still breast feeding an infant.
