Quoting ~Julie Blue Eyes~:" <blockquote><b>Quoting Talena_caro:</b>" <blockquote><b>Quoting ~Julie ... [snip!] ... over again. If I hadn't have been smurffy drunk, I'd have left with my friends and it wouldn't have happened. That is a fact."
The problem is that until you remove the rapists actions from the equation, you change nothing. Being smurffy drunk should maybe be a risk for alcohol poisoning, or choking on your own vomit. It may even be a risk for having a car accident if you go drive a car I suppose. It should not be a risk for being raped. The fact is a rapist is just looking for a chance, and if it wasn't you, it would be someone else & if she want' drunk, then he'd find another way, so on & so forth. Just like a lion will pick off the weak, small or aged when hunting a pack of animals, a rapist takes what is easy first. But just like a lion won't starve simply because there is no easy prey, a rapist won't stop just because they may have to work harder. Rape isn't really a crime of opportunity. The rapist doesn't think rape is wrong except
, there was this one time....when it was such easy pickins.
I am sorry for what happened to you & like with all types of crimes there are things you may be able to do in order to make it less likely, but at the end of the day it isn't about what you do, what you wear, or where you go, but it is about what is done to you & we have to make sure we never loose site of the fact that the TOTAL blame lies with the perpetrator.
