Flu shot

posted 10th Jan
DH is currently arguing with me because I refuse to get the kids their flu shots.
He read this http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/story/20525412/beaumont-doctor-talks-about-the-flu-which-ism-urffing-early-and-hard
and is freaking out because of the deaths recently.
I have never gotten out children the flu shot, except one time and that one time they got the flu. Every year besides that they have never gotten it *knocks on wood*

What do you think? Am I just being stubborn?
I just don't see a point in them getting it....

I dont get them. Neither does my son. You arent overreacting. In Philadelphia, therei s a hospital with tents outside for patients for the flu

I wouldn't do it. You can die from food poisoning. Gonna starve the kids?

Oh jesus christ.
My husband is such a paranoid freak... I just don't see a reason for a flu shot, it's unnecessary.

He gets one every year because they get them free at his work and they come right to your office to do them. He acts like he is immortal when he gets one   lmao
Guess who ends up sick every year? MMhhhmmm HIM

My son almost died from a bad reaction to the only flu shot he ever got. There are risks associated with every medical decision you make, even if the decision is to not do anything. You have weigh the risks against the benefits and for me te flu shots risks FAR outweigh the potential benefits.

If you dont feel its necessary, then dont. Theres always gonna be the chance that you still get the flu even with having the flu shot. I think it really depends on how likely it is that you would come into contact with someone who could be carrying it. I got mine when i worked in a nursing home, to protect myself and the residents as best as i could, and i got my daughter hers also since the baby will be born in flu season and my hospitals policy is that any siblings under 14 are required to have proof of a flu shot during flu season or they cant visit. If not for either of those situations i would have opted out if gettinf my flu shot and i wouldnt have gotten my daughter hers.

My son goes to school so he wanted them because of that. but honestly he hasn't gotten sick from school yet * knocks on wood*
His teachers are pretty good at stopping anyone from even coming in the school that even looks a little sick.

I dont think that going to school necessarily means they should have a flu shot. Like you said, the teachers are pretty good at helping stop situations. I think hes just overreacting.

Lol. None of us have gotten flu shots. None of us have had the flu. Can you find an article to show him that THIS years shot is to fight LAST YEARS strand of flu?

I could, he will still argue with me BUT the fact of the matter is I make the rules, not him.
I choose what goes in the kids bodies, not him.
