Christopher is sick.

Starting last Friday morning he woke with a slight cough, but nothing to be concerned about .Saturday the cough got horrible, fever spiked, runny nose, puking, etc. Continued through Monday. Tuesday he seemed better except small cough here and there and then today the cough got HORRIBLE again and now he's puking. The doctor told me on Saturday that he had an "upper respiratory virus" ..that was it. Do I take him back or let him keep fighting the cough? The cough doesn't seem normal..it seems bark like. He had Croup this time last year. Thoughts? Do I call his doctor tomorrow morning or no?

It would not hurt to call his pedi. I probably would if it were my son. Is he taking any meds for his cough? I don't like to over medicate me or my son but when it's neccessary I will do it . Maybe they can suggest a cough supressant or something else if it's a wet cough.

I would request he be swabbed for flu. That sounds like the one that is going around right now!

What can they do for flu? His grandma (who takes care of him has flu and bronchitis right now). Anyways, I just called the pedi. Of course, they want him to come back in. I'm about to shower and go take him. I'll be back to update in a couple of hours. I'll suggest a flu swab. Do different stands of flu do different things? I remember flu being a stomach thing....

He's got more upper crud going on...

Flu isn't a stomach thing. It is a respiratory virus. They can give him a flu medicine if it is the flu. Most people think flu is a stomach thing and that is really gastrointits (sp).
