My son is almost 3 (Feb 14th) and he doesn't use a pillow. I actually read that pillows aren't even needed.

This is from babycenter.

Though they're often sold with crib bedding sets, pillows are not recommended for children under 2. Kids that small can easily suffocate while using one.

Actually, older kids don't need pillows either. Parents often think a pillow will provide their child with extra comfort, not realizing that their child was doing fine without it.

If you want to introduce a pillow, it's best to wait until your toddler moves from a crib to a bed. But if you want to give him one while he's still sleeping in a crib, go with one that's small (the size of an airline pillow) and firm. Stay away from feather pillows, which are too soft, can set off allergies, and can smother a child if his head sinks into it while he's sleeping.

Hope this helps!

my older ones were 3 before they got a pillow. I was just currious what ages you ladies gave them to your LOs. My twins are 9 months and are belly sleepers so they will not be getting pillows anytime soon. Thanks guys

DD got a mini pillow pet at 6 months and she LOVED it. We put it in her crib before she was really moving around, and one day she found her way onto it perfectly. Ever since then she slept on him. Now she has 2 baby pillow pets that I alternate and my big, flat as smurf pillow (i put it in there so she had my scent in the middle of the night. Shes been sleeping better ever since) Its flatter than a folded blanket! HA!
