There is a God!!

posted 10th Jan
So I was sitting on our closet floor folding laundry...in front of this little floor dresser. N keeps trying to go up on my lap and then back down to play with the clothes. He comes up on my lap one more time while I am folding and his foot slips....he falls head first behind me....loud thunk and screaming. The sharp corner of this hard plastic dresser BEHIND me broke his fall...and he has a gash on the CREASE of his upper eyelid......one mm lower and he could've lost his eye.

Took him to the childrens medical center and three hours later they glue his eye up....It wasnt as bad as I initially thought...and he actually only cried for 2 mins when it happened....but screamed bloody murder when they held him down to glue his cut up.

On one hand I am pissed about the freak accident and that he has to go through that...especially after just getting ovr being sick for a week....on the other I am feeling extremely lucky and grateful....

Well that was our night...yours?

I know exactly what you mean. My son has had to get stitches right above his eye twice, both times from hitting a metal bed frame. Two different beds too. I was so glad he missed his eye

I'm glad he's okay! Dh and I played candyland with DD and when she went to bed I went to Wal-Mart to walk around for a bit. That was the highlight of my boring day

Its soo scary that he could've lost his eye...makes me want to cry thinking about it.

How old was your son when it happened?

9 months the first time. He crawled right into it! It was a few days before Easter so he had a bad gash in our photos lol. The second time he was almost 3. I wasn't there, my grandparents were watching him while we moved. He was jumping on their bed (tsk tsk) and fell. They waited until after they took him to the ER to call me so I wouldn't worry while they were there lol

A few months ago DS got his first real boo boo where he bled and it was the corner of his eye. From RIGHT outside his eye ball toward his temple. He busted it on the side of the coffee table   First time he ever bled and I cried worse than he did lol. Glad your LO is okay!

Lol. I didn't find it to fun but I needed to get some walking in. Might have been more fun if I had had money to spend. Plus, there was this weird couple that kept following meand I feared they wanted to cut or my baby and sell him for some crack lol

Aww poor baby! That was nice of them....yeah I didnt call my SO until after a nurse saw us and said he may not even need stitches. It was raining pretty good and I could see him speeding over there....It was so scary cuz he fell asleep as soon as I put him in the car seat and I was worried about him having a concussion. So every stoplight I woud reach back and mess with him to make sure he was responding.

Oh yes I was bawling at the urgent care when they asked what happened and for info...they sent us to the hospital and were like"you sure you're ok to drive?".

He cried for maybe 2 mins and then was fine.

Poor bubs   how old was your lo?

I wanna say 16 or 17 months. He didn't start walking on his own until 15 months, so it had to have been after that, but it's been a little while and he's 20 months now. He tripped over one of his toys and we still need to put those damn bumpers on the table but they're expensive and every time I have the money to go pick them up they're out of stock. That damn coffee table is the only thing he has ever hurt himself on and I feel like I'm gonna have a heart attack any time he's near it lol.

lmaoo I've had paranoid thoughts like that...actually at the ER this old guy with weird nasty teeth came up and was talking to my son and gave him a finger puppet...my first thought was...he better not try to steal my baby! Turns out he was a chaplin that worked for the hospital...he gave all the lil babies finger puppets while they were waiting to be seen..hah

Did the weird couple follow you out too?

If we didn't NEED the coffee table I would have put it away until all our LO's are bigger but our living room can't really be functional without it. I just need to start picking up those bumpers one at a time until I get all 4 of them.
