Pertussis 'Whooping Cough'

posted 9th Jan
My daughter has been sounding very congested this past week....I tried the bulb sucker thing, humidifier, shower steam, all that. I took her o the Dr. and he had her admitted to the hospital b/c he seemed to think it was RSV. Well she tested negative for that, and all her chest x-rays came back negative for pnemonia, the flu and all that too. Now they think she has 'whooping cough'. She was treated and sent home with a breathing machine and antibiotics.
Has anyone else experienced this??? How did it turn out??

Both my kids had whooping cough at the same time. My daughter was 6 and my son was about 15months. Scariest thing ever!!! My daughter got over hers rather quickly and didn't have any problems....apart from the barking cough. My son had a more rough time with it. Doctor told me if he turns blue, or starts choking on vomit to rush him straight to the ER. That night he was coughing so bad, he did turn blue. SO was at work, and I was home by myself with the kids. I took him the the hospital, and they did NOTHING! I told them what had happened and that the doctor said to come straight in if he turned blue, and they still did nothing. We were left sitting in triage for 5 hours without even seeing a doctor.
