no if you're gonna be a professional i suggest not getting tattoos that are visible unless you want them to be. maybe get something on your shoulders or abdoman?

My friend is a nurse & she has her boyfriends name on her wrist... i guess it jusy depends if i were you i would get it somewhere that it can be covered

I'm all for tattoos but, wrist and neck tattoos are tacky IMO. If a nurse came to take care of me and had wrist tattoo's i'd ask for another nurse. to me it shows lack of professionalism.

unless you can wear long sleeves all the time I wouldn't. Get it somewhere you can easily cover. It will make life easier lol

i wouldnt recommend getting it anywhere visable even not in that line of work- u could get alot of questions that somedays will just be too upsetting for u, maybe close to ur heart is where u should get it

I have tattoos on both of my hands (stars on the skin between your thumb and the finger next to it) and believe me, if you want a SERIOUS job, it's a bad idea. that's the first thing they see when you go in to an interview is your tattoo's on your hands.
Thank god i decorate cakes, and i'm in a creative occupation so their pretty lienient on appearances.

Meme, Iam in the medical feild and work at the hospital with adolescent psyc. patients from age 3 to 17. I have a tatoo on my ankle and had it prior to this job. I love my tatoo, BUT I can't dress up. If I want to wear a skirt, I can't b/c it is really inappropriate for troubled kids to see it on me. Iam suppose to be a positive influince/role model and that doesn't reflect it.
So, with that said, I would definatly get it in a place where you can wear professional clothing without a tatoo being shown. Just speaking from experience!

I agree with the other ladies, definitely not somewhere so prominent.

Where ever you decide to put your tatoo it will be a wonderful reminder of the love that you have for your children.

You can coverj ust about any tattoo with make up. Also if it is on the wrist you can wear a watch. There are tons of models with tattoos in visible places but you dont see them if they dont want you to. They just get some makeup and cover it. Personally, I think that with it being a rememberance tattoo you can get it where ever you want as long as you are willing to explain it everytime someone asks about it while you are at work.

I tried covering mine on my ankle w/ makeup. It showed through. Any darker and my leg would have looked discolored. As for models and not seeing theirs, I think thats compliments of airbrushing and photoshopping.

Take some liquid bandage and go over it before applying makeup. Also using a white base like a really thin paint before using makeup helps.

Honestly, most people are going to tell you that visible tattoos are a no-go in a professional career like nursing. That said, my mother, uncle and best friend are RNs and all say that because nurses are in such high demand, unless you did something liketattoo your forehead with a swastika like Manson did I really think you will be able to get a job, and a well paying one at that. I aksed them because I am covered in tats and couldn't decide between going back to school for my RN or MSW.
