I have no advice on the situation but my advice to you is to invest in some photography courses first if that is what you truly want to be, especially if you choose to make money from it.  

but you can find a pretty inexpensive dslr to work with.

the camera body I want is less than the stupid pole. People are dumb. He spent over 12k in taxes on whatever he wanted and I got smurf, and now I want to use the taxes on needs, get a camera and save the rest and Im being selfish. Nah.

Oh anD I am doing the classes, but I also need a new camera anyways and dont want to waste money on another piece of crap point and shoot that just takes smurffy pics. Even if I dont make money, I will save it by not using photographers to take pics of my kids/family because I can just do it myself.

Maybe you guys can agree to rotate years on getting yourself something. Like this year, you go ahead and get your camera, and then next year, he can get his pole.  

I dunno, it's just an idea. ;)

But if you hate him pissing away money WHY do you want him to be ok with you doing it?

The issue everyone sees is, let the man get his smurfing pole and stop being a brat!

No people are not dumb, you are dumb. You are in debt and poor why would spending all your money be a wise choice? Sounds to me like both of you have poor priorities, maybe you should take 20$ and invest in a Dave Ramsey book.

And I love how all you women in here are all saying ohh you probably wont make any money its so hard. Since when does the chance at not succeeding stop anyone from following their dreams and doing what makes them happy? Working hard and perseverance pays off. I do not have this cant do, wont happen attitude. I know what I am capable of. Way to have faith in someone   What happened to people supporting others?

please tell me where I said I want to spend it ALL? I said I want to save whats left over? And I am PAYING OFF my debts, and going to school to better myself so I can make more money than I do now and not be in this situation.

Yes. You are. You're pissing it away doing something you WANT to do, not NEED to do. Just like he did. If he's that bad and puts you're family in such a bad place and he's oh so mean because he never lets you have anything you want go it on your own and see how much you get of your wants then.

Do not waste your money on another crappy P&S. Tell him tough titties and go pick out a camera body.

Even if you don't start a business having a decent camera saves money. DH got so pissed when I asked for $200 on my dslr(after saving $600 of my own money) but then he realized how much money we save by not having the kids pictures done at some smurffy place like walmart or Olan Mills. I'm no smurfing photographer but anyone can take a better picture then what you spend at at those places.

Computer, car, cloths, and with the rest you are hoping there is enough to get a camera.... Uh where is your savings? How about pay off debt and buy a cheap car and save the rest to get ahead. You don't need anything else, you will never get ahead living like that.
