I bought my niece this cross for her quincenera. It was originally $90 and I got it on clearance for $38. A friend said it is tacky to buy an important gift on clearance. I think it is pretty and I wouldn't have been able to get her as nice of one with my $40 budget (money is tight, I love my niece as much as my own kids, but I can't pull money out of my butt   ). What do you think of the necklace?

Why does it matter if its on clearance? It's the thought that counts, and because its on sale doesn't make it worth any less   I think it's pretty  

The necklace is beautiful... Your niece doesn't need to know, and I'm sure wouldn't care that it was on clearance..

Its only tacky if its crappy. That's very nice.

Your friend is crazy. Not everyone can afford nice things at full price. I think is beautiful and it doesn't matter if you bought it on sale

Nobody'll know what you spent on it unless you tell them and it's tacky to tell the recipient (or other guests) how much you paid. IMO

Its not about the money. It's about the thought and it is very pretty. I ALWAYS look for great sales... why spend a ton when you can get nice things for cheaper?

I was kinda shocked. Just because I bought it on clearance doesn't mean the metal changed from real to fake. LOL
