re: I hate my neighbors! made fun of my baby

posted 9th Jan
I'm the bitch neighbor with our neighbor kids a lot. Tonight one of the little bastards threw a snowball at me so I said "Please don't throw snowballs at me, it's rude." Then I've yelled at the same pricks not to chase my cat and yelled at them for trying to trip us on the stairs while holding the baby. :Stands up: High I'm Terra, and I'm a bitch neighbor.

As do I. But until I start paying their rent, and they start doing something illegal... I have no right to say anything to them. If we were on a personal level, or knew vaguely of each other... sure. I'm sure they'd have no problem with me saying something. But someone I don't know? I'd be a bitch as well.

I agree. That is part of living in an apartment. It is not your own house and your own building. You have to be respectful, a lot of apartments even have rules regarding this type of thing in the leases. I do not think it is crazy for someone to want to be able to put their child to sleep at night or just relax at night without hearing music be blasted. It is a respect issue.

People can hear my TV in the hallway. I don't have it blasting, maybe on like 15? So relatively low. But you can still hear it in the hallway. Apartments aren't made to be sound proof. So of course neighbors are going to hear things.. regardless of how low the music or TV is.

You do have the right to say something though. Before my best friend married her husband he lived in an apartment by himself. We had a party there one night and ended up with a note from the landlord because we were being loud and disturbing the neighbors which is against their policy. It is part of living in an apartment that you have to understand there are other people that live there and will be disturbed by certain actions. He could have gotten evicted if he had gotten a few more notices about disturbing the neighbors.

I hope you don't use that TV to watch porn

I've lived in 2 different apartment complexes and I've never once heard any of my neighbors. Not once.

Exactly!!!! our landlord talked to us about DS running around past 9. It's part of CHOOSING apartment living. You have to sacrifice and be considerate. Weather you own or not too their are noise ordinance in place. I lived in Philadelphia a crime stricken city with murders daily and they still came out to say turn it the smurf down.

Yep. I only have one neighbor on my floor (there's 4 apartments, 2 are vacant). but gawwwwd, they would take their baby out in the hallway to soothe them. The baby was SCREAMING and in hysterics. And the lady thought it would be a good idea to take them in the hallway   But, all I did was turn my TV up. I did get irritated... but it wasn't my place to say anything. I'm sure if the dude OP is talking about came down and told her to soothe her baby because the crying is keeping him up, she'd get pissy, too... yanno?

*nods*
Sometimes it takes a bigger person to ignore the situation rather than becoming confrontational. You may just end up pissing someone off so bad they become even louder.

Oh... we do.   I know people HAVE to hear us. We has sex in the living room   But nobody has ever said anything. So. Eh.

When I come home at night from work, I can hear our neighbors talking and yelling at the kids. Like I can full on hear everything. But the person below us has stopped us before and asked how often we were home because he never hears us, lol.

I can honestly say I have only heard my neighbors when they are outside. Then I heard the next door one 2 days ago. Sounded like he was hanging stuff but other than that I never do.

Maybe you will understand when you have children. You would feel differently if you had a sick baby that loud people were keeping up

I used to live just over the bridge from Philly in Jersey!

Yeah when you choose to live in an apartment you are choosing to understand that there are other people in the same building. I can't imagine just being like "smurf the neighbors I pay rent and I want to blast my music at 1 am". They pay rent just the same as me and deserve a decent environment to live in.
