if you dont vaccinate...

posted 9th Jan
Do you still take your kid to the doctor for all of the check ups or just when they need to be seen?

I do vaccinate but if I didn't then I would only take him to be seen if he was sick or I felt he needed to be seen for another reason

I vax but I don't see why not... It's necessary for them to go to make sure they're growing properly.

not all well baby visits are for vax. They're to make sure your baby is growing right. The first yr of life there is such rapid growth. I feel it's important to make sure they're on track. If you don't catch stuff early it can cause lifelong problems.

I don't vaccinate and I don't really take my kids to the dr either. I usually just do homeopathic, natural remedies and it takes care of it. However, if they're extremely sick or need stitches off to the e.r. we go.

I don't vax and don't keep with the usual schedule. My daughter is perfectly healthy and growing fine. I stopped vaxing at 18m. I took her when she was 2.5. She's now 3 but we just moved and she doesn't have a Dr yet. I need to get one but she doesn't have insurance yet... effing Air Force.

I vax, but I've never done well visits. I consider myself capable of knowing if they're growing and developing properly.

This is the same situation I am in. Minus the air force. We do weigh and measure the kids and keep up with growth charts. But they are really healthy. So I don't really see the point. I've been debating about the new baby though. I feel like she needs to be seen for awhile. Just to make sure everything is okay. But idk yet haha.

That's how I feel. Did you take them as newborns and stop? Or just never really take them.

Juliette: Yeah I'll probably take this new baby for the first couple until I feel s/he doesn't need to go that often anymore.

Although most pedis have a "well" room and a "sick" room; I don't really trust them. When DD was new and little, we were in the well room and a kid was in there coughing up a storm... then she had an non-contagious ear infection and had to sit in the sick room -_-

I took them for the first couple of visits, and that's about it. I made my vax appointments when I saw it to be fit, and that was that.

I stopped vaxing at 18 months. I think he was due at 2, but i feel you build a better immune system the old fashioned way.. I don't ever get flu shots or anything so why should he.. I honestly see no point in most vaccinations.. I did the check ups the first year. But now.. Not at all. He's been sick once (cough and fever, nothing else) and we rode it out, drank some tea ate some soup. I'm not gonna spend money on a Dr just for them to tell me to give him fluids and watch for more symptoms.. Plus i breast fed for 20months. I'd still be doing so if i could. That's better than anything a Dr could give them.
