6week PP checkup

What should I expect at this apt Tom. I'm kinda nervous about it. Will there be a speculum exam? And was it painful? I had to have three places repaired after the birth so needless to say I'm a little nervous it may hurt. At my two week checkup all she did was insert a finger for about ten sec. Thanks ladies

I had a speculum used but they were also inserting my mirena, it didn't hurt.

DR might take a peak since you had stuff that needed to be monitored. It's not typical for them to schedule a 2 week check up unless they did something like a c-section or a good amount of repair work. If everything went good, you only get the 6 week check-up. They don't normally worry about doing a pap if you had one at the beginning of the pregnancy though. If you didn't get one done at the beginning of pregnancy, then they might.

Mostly they ask about PPD and birth control. They'll talk about breastfeeding too if you're doing that. It also gives them a chance to see the baby.   If you're still bleeding at all, they normally like you to reschedule.

Don't worry, it doesn't hurt. It's a full pap (or at least, it was for me), and I'm a big baby about paps, but it was no biggy.

And I had a crapload of stitches.
