BITCHY???

posted 9th Jan
Okay, so my MIL adopted thier nephew's daughter (she is almost 3 now) and everytime she watches my 15mo the other lil girl takes EVERYTHING from my DD. She takes all the toys and goes "NO, MINE!" and will take them to the other room. My DD picks up something else and the other girl does the same thing again.Which is normal for her age, but my MIL does not even try to get her to share and just lets he have everything, so that is my first "complaint". Also they have an inside dog that pisses and smurfs everywhere and are very slow to clean it up so she is playing around that while she is there, they have let her play in the toilet (and videod it even, thinking it was funny, they said they cleaned it, but still!). They also let my daughter eat after everyone (I'm weird, but I don't like her eating after other people). Last time we went to pick her up there, she took one of the 3yo pacifiers and was chewing on it (my DD had never liked pacies, and I don't want her to start now (at 15mo!) for it to mess up her teeth she has, and be something else I have to break her of). So, I am greatful for the help, but should I say anything?I feel bad "criticizing" when they are trying to help, but I would NEVER do that stuff with my DD! I don't want to come off as a bitch. WWYD?

Why would you leave her there with dog smurf all over the floor? I wouldn't take her back over there, that's disgusting.

I wouldn't say anything. Maybe about the dog messes, but that's about it.

It's a normal stage for her to be greedy, and not your place to tell them how to parent - as poorly as she might be doing it in that respect.

The toilet thing,well..... I mean if she was already playing in it, what's another minute? lol

It doesn't matter where you leave your child, the people you leave her with are always going to do stuff that you would NEVER do.

Do you have anyone else to watch her? I wouldn't be comfortable with my DD being there.

They don't leave smurf all over the floor, but are kinda slow with cleaning it up. (It's pretty common for there to be at least one puddle/poop on the floor at a time). Didn't want it to sound like there is smurf ALL over the floor.lol

Quoting Mommy of a giggler!:" I wouldn't say anything. Maybe about the dog messes, but that's about it. It's a normal stage for ... [snip!] ... doesn't matter where you leave your child, the people you leave her with are always going to do stuff that you would NEVER do. "

That's kinda what I was thinkin. I know everyone parents different and I don't really have a problem with it, and I didn't want to pick on them and me seem ungrateful for thier help. That's why I didn't know if I should say anything or not. My mom works, and we live like 5min from my MIL who doesn't work so that is why she ends up there when we need a babysitter sometimes. I appreciate the advice everyone

You should know it's doubtful your daughter is going to pick up a paci habit at this stage. She'll play with it, but she's not likely to get attached to it. So I wouldn't worry about that.
As for the rest, I would be complaining about leaving dog messes on the floor, but the other things? Maybe approach the topic of sharing very gently. I mean, they are doing you a favor. You could find someone else.
