Was told to stop working...

My doctor told me to go ahead and stop working. I have been at home for two days and I'm very stressed out about finances. I've been waiting to find out what DH's raise would look like. We knew that he would at least get a raise, if not a promotion. He's been asked to take on a whole lot more responsibility, and even take over part of a different department's responsibility because they aren't doing a good enough job. Cody is so good at what he does, that they have entrusted him to do that part. So he brings home his evaluation today, and what does he get? A four percent raise. Wow. His evaluation was fabulous... you'd think it would be worth more than four percent with everything they've asked him to take on. Four percent isn't bad if you make a bunch of money, but he barely makes anything. I am so upset with them! They rely on him for so much and they know that we struggle! Ugh.

I know your pain. DH was told he was getting a 5% raise. Then come to find out that was going off a pay rate from 6 months ago because he got a raise for taking on the duties of another department. So it actually gave him a decrease. Then he only got a 2% raise which didn't do anything.

It sucks but we manage to make it work. Lots of budgeting basically and we have cut out so much from when I was working.

Our CPI indexed raises aren't even 4%...

hmmm.. his employer probably budgets for employee raises. At least he got something.

I got 1%. Sucks. Why did you need to stop working?

A lot of different factors. SPD, complications with my last pregnancy around this time, etc.

Yeah. I get that they have a budget for their department. But he works for a huge mega church who are planting 3 more satellite churches within the next year, including the two they just planted. They could find a position for him making more money at one of the satellite churches, or they could promote him to the next level, easily. I think the problem is that his boss directly over him doesn't want to let go of him under any circumstances, and her parents are the head pastors for his for the entire ministry he works for.

Ours, too! I feel horrible because DH is insisting on getting a part-time job... I feel like we've taken two steps back from where we were!

My hubby makes almost $10 an hour and when I go on leave, he has to get a second job so we don't have to move in with his parents until I go back to work. My boss doesn't pay when you are on maternity leave.

We have yearly reviews and even though my boss tells me, and I believe that he means it, that I deserve his pay and he deserves mine, he has no real control over raises right now.

Last year I got 2% and the year before I got 1%... that doesn't even account for the rise in cost of living  


It's a shame how companies "hold on to" good or exemplary employees.

That's how I feel too. Just when we were starting to get in a good place now were taking two steps back   and then I can't take Scarlytt out until April (hospital advise) because I she gets sick we'd end up back here   so its like I will be stuck at home for the next 3 mos after having her.
