First Birthday Photoshoot

I need ideas.

I'm collaborating with a local photographer who will be charging $50 for an hour session, which includes smash cake and props. One pose we are thinking about doing is DD in a chair with balloons in a field or on a trail.... since it's cold outside DD would need to dress warm.

So, I'm clueless on which type of dress or outfits for her to wear. And how many I should bring for the shoot.

I've never had professional photos done, I usually just take my own photos. Any tips?

anytime anyone does her pictures I tell them to not force a pose guide her but wasting time trying to get her to do what they want waste time and your favorite is the candid moments

The photographer I've been speaking with said she doesn't generally do poses, she likes to capture her subject in their own element and personality.

at kaylee s 1 year pics ( mind you she's 5 now and was a summer baby) she did a leotard and tutu with tiara... and bathing suit) most times she has pictures I bring 2 outfits after that she gets mad.. where is she doing the pictures and what is the weather

I guess my only other question is.. if you were having an outdoor photo shoot for your 1 yr old girl, and the weather is cool.. like between 40 and 50 degrees... what would you dress her in?

Leggings, a tutu, and long sleeve shirt, with some cute little pink chucks.

We have a choice in studio or outdoors.. I'm leaning towards outdoors. Probably in a field or on a trail. The weather is cool, avg between 40 and 50 degrees.

Guess I'm going shopping  

I wanted her smash cake to be done in her birthday suit... mostly naked.. but I don't know how we'll pull that off with this weather.. lol

Does it have to be either/or? Or can they do both?

Did the photographer say anything about a limit on outfit changes? I'd ask just in case, that way you can plan better.

Not sure how much you're looking to spend, but maybe a cordless portable heater might help? I'd imagine you'd have to be super careful with it though..but then birthday suit poses could be a possibility

I'll have to ask, I was thinking 2 outfits plus the birthday suit for her smash cake... but I'd be happy with just one outfit and birthday suit.. DD doesn't like getting dressed/undressed.. so the less, the better for her.
