trying to help my sister

Ok so my older sister is pregnant with her 3rd baby. She and her fiancee are tossing names around for the baby but can't really decide on anything. She doesn't know what she's having yet, she actually finds out tomorrow. She asks me for help constantly and I give her suggestions that I like and that i think are decent names. She and her fiancee shoot them all down.

I'm terrified she's going to stick this baby with a smurf name. My niece is named Laela, love the name, hate the spelling. And then there's my nephew. She named him Braelan. Atrocious name, even more atrocious spelling. I told her this when she was pregnant.. she ignored it. She's talking bout naming this new baby Xavier if it's a boy, which I think is good, even though crazy popular where we're from in Jersey. He'll be one of a million Xavier's in school. For a girl she mentioned Caelan.. which is supposed to be Kailynn but she was like i want to keep up with the "ael" trend that i started in Laela and Braelan's names. yikes!

She's been asking me for name suggestions the last couple of days and I've been trying to come up with something that she'll love that will actually be a decent name. I suggested Evangeline the other day and she actually loves it but her fiancé says he can't pronounce it so they can't use it. Stupid men.

Help me ladies.. I need decent girl name suggestions so my sister doesn't give this baby a terrible name if it happens to be a girl. I might sound judgmental but I'm not trying to be, but I know what a big deal a good name for a child is, and some of the possible names I'm hearing are actually painful.

Well if they do not like the names you like there isn't much you can do about it. They have to choose their own kid's name, not strangers on the internet.

Xavier is fine. And the spelling Caelan is better than the one you typed. But Caelan and Braelan rhyme and that sucks.

the only thing wrong with Caelan is that it's masculine....but that's the "in" thing to do. name your daughter after a boy. i'd let her be. if she didn't listen to you on Braelan (yuck) she won't listen to you at all.

Everybody spells my DDs name wrong. Oh well. Her name is lylian so most people ask anyway since there are a couple of spellings.

That's what I though it said at first. Is it more like Casey but with a z sound?

so. no one can spell my DD's name correctly, except some family. heck most can't even pronounce it.

The proper spelling is Cailin. I love that name!
