Fully potty trained??

posted 9th Jan
when do you consider someone fully potty trained?
I been petty training my son for the past 3 days ,he has gone per in the potty standing up with no accidents and stays dry at night. He has been able to do that for over 6 months, but would poop in his underwear, so i figured he was not ready and went back to diapers. Well today he told me he had to go poop and he did.

Probably when they go #1 and #2 for several days with out any accidents and wearing underwear that whole time? I would say no daipers at night but I know that there's a lot of kids who wet the bed for years.

I believe that it is when a child goes to the washroom alone, and does their business without assistance

I was just about to say this too. Our LO doesn't ever have any accidents anymore, but he needs us to help pull his pants up and wipe his little butt after #2

he is no longer in diapers, he pretty much goes per by himself, but it's pooping that he needs help with.i hope that in the next few days he keeps telling us when he needs to go poop. its such a big step for him since he is so stubborn and wants to do it his way.

He sounds like he's pretty close! We just started taking pull ups away for naps, contemplating taking them away for over nights once this pack is gone (there's like 5 or 6 left). He has actually done very well pooping and I'm thankful because I hear so many stories of kids constipating themselves refusing to go #2.

I cut liquids by 7 since bed time is at 9, ask him to go per twice before bed, if he does really want something to drink then i would ask him to go another time. Then my husband wakes him up at 6 to go pee, and then he goes back to sleep.
And i was starting to get worried about him getting constipated since he didn't go yesterday.

I think it's when they go by themselves. It bothers me when people think their kid's potty trained, but they are still asking them if they need to go all the time. I think they are when they say they need to go (without prompting), go to the bathroom, no accidents.

IMO, even if they need help pulling pants up or wiping, they would still be considered potty trained.

My LO has a cup of milk after dinner, about 7 or 7:30 then bed time is 8:30. I usually give him one of those tiny dixie cups of water to keep on his book shelf. He just goes pee once before bed. He will NEVER go if we ask him if he needs to, so I don't even bother asking anymore unless he's really busy playing and I know probably has to pee. He'll stay dry all night but DH wakes up with him during the week and usually doesn't wake up immediately and LO won't go on his own. Actually, I wonder if he would go on his own if he had undies on...hmm....I guess we'll find out here soon, lol. Like I said, he can't pull his pants up yet so after he's done, he always comes out of the bathroom with his pants and undies around his ankles to come get us, lol, it's adorable.

We had friends that brought the potty everywhere, like birthday parties, dinner, etc and would just make her sit on it the entire time. They kept saying she was FULLY potty trained, but I think she really had no other option.

I do consider my daughter fully potty trained but I still go in and wipe her butt. I guess I don't have too, but really she is kind of nasty, lol

i had tried the pull ups since he would go pee in the potty but not poop, but i think that just made him think he could also go pee.

the only time i ask my son if he has to go pee is during bed time since i don't want him to have a accident. but other than that he just goes by himself, he just needs help pulling up his pants, he will put the seat down and flush and even try to wash his handut can't fuly reach the sink.
