Party foods

posted 9th Jan
What are some foods suitable for a birthday party at a park? I'm planning DD's party for next month. Hot foods (kept warm by those portable racks with the burners under them) that I could make at home, cold foods, platters, anything.

TIA

May I recommend anything with bacon?

One of my personal favorites...This is my recipe I got online, and it is amazing! They're really, really easy to make too.

Ingredients
Serves: 6
  • 12 jalapeno peppers
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 12 slices bacon

    Preparation method

    Prep: 15 mins | Cook: 15 mins
    1. Cut the peppers in half lengthwise; remove seeds and membranes.

    2. Combine the cheeses, then fill the peppers with cheese. Put pepper halves back together.

    3. Wrap each pepper with a slice of bacon.

    4. Put peppers on baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes.

    5. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.

I've got a couple more party food recipes I'll look up, but these are always a crowd pleaser.

Kay, these are again, incredibly easy to make, and instant hits with kids...to make them last longer, just cut them in half.

Piggies in a Blanket

Decide how many you want, and then go and get yourself those containers of Pillsbury crescents, the ones that come in the long strips of dough?

Then get the equivelant amount of hot dogs. The rule is 1 pack of hot dogs per two rolls of crescents.

Roll the hot dogs in the crescents, one strip of dough per hot dog.

Bake at 325 for 12 minutes, or until slightly golden on top, checking at 8 minutes. (Lift them up a little bit to check the bottoms, so that they don't darken too much)

Again, inexpensive, piece of cake to make.

Let me keep looking through my notebook...I know I have a couple more really easy to make party foods.

Have you thought about making wrap rolls?

Kay a couple more...Cheesy bacon bread.

Really, really easy. Tastes amazing, again, a huge hit. And again, to make it go farther, cutting the slices into halves or even quarters is a great idea!

What you need: A package of those ready made garlic toasts that you just pop into the oven...The recipe I have calls for 24 of them, but you can downsize it as you want to.

24 slices of bacon, cut in half. (48 half pieces in total)

About half a block of grated cheese...It's hard to explain this part...Basically enough to generously cover the top of the garlic toast.

What to do:
Fry up the bacon...Don't make it crispy, because it'll cook in the oven.
Pre-heat your oven to 325. Bake the garlic bread, depending on the brand you use, until it is about two minutes from being done.
Once the garlic bread is close to ready, pull it out, and add two halves of bacon to each peace. Cover bacon with cheese and put back in the oven. Bake until cheese is completely melted.

Cover with tin foil to keep warm.

What you could do is cut them into quarters, and then put toothpicks into them for an easy tray snack.

I'm really into making appetizers and such, so have tons of recipes like this...
