re: early baby shower

posted 9th Jan
I had my first shower after baby arrived, how do you feel about that?
I honestly don't care when someone else chooses to have their baby shower, maybe that's the only time certain family will be around or if theyre military they will want to have it will their DH is still here. Not to mention that lost Mommies-to-be dont throw their own shower, its planned by someone else. It's none of my or anyone else's business.
I would NOT want to have a shower at 8-9 months pregnant. By that time I'm uncomfortable, probably swollen, and don't want to have to be a gracious guest of honor. I had my "sprinkle" at 33 weeks with my second and I thought that was perfect. I was clearly showing but not uncomfortable yet and I didn't mind having to smile and be friendly with everyone and be on my feet the whole time.

I had mine with DD at 26 ish weeks. I had a friend that was going to be moving out of state so we planned it around her move so she could host (she was dying to).

7-8 months is perfect. You have a belly, but not swollen & sore. I know a girl who had hers at 4-5 months, just because. She had no belly. I think it's weird to have one if you're not showing, but that's MY opinion. I had my shower with DD2 at 38 weeks. I was swollen and sooo uncomfortable   with DD1 I was about 7 months. Had a cute belly & could enjoy myself lol

Mine is at 24 weeks. I live 3000 miles from home and my only really close friend here is hosting. She's pregnant and needs to do it before she delivers or 6+ weeks after (so, before 26w for me or after 31w).

After 31w, I may very well be on strict bed rest and not able to attend my own shower.

So, we opted to do it after viability, but before she delivered.

Don't like it? Doesn't matter.
Doesn't effect you!!!

Don't judge others without knowing the full story!

In some cases it's fine and understandable if its sooner. The girl I mentioned threw her own for no other reason than impatience.

Still fine. Her baby, her shower, her choice. I think throwing your own shower is a lot more tacking than having it early. Lol

I don't really see the big deal? Why exactly does it bother you?

I had mine 2 weeks before my son was born and I was miserable, huge, tired, and uncomfortable.

I don't think 7 months is too early to have a baby shower. I had mine at 31 weeks, and 33 weeks. BUT both times were within the month of December. Early baby showers make me nervous, just because losses can be so sudden. My friend had an early baby shower, and lost her daughter.

i'm not judging anyone. i meant it annoying when people do it out of pure impatience like someone else said.
and as i've said, while it's annoying it's whatever. i understand why you're having yours early and i guess i posted this to have people make me less annoyed with it which you all have done.
