If you have allergies to dogs then you shouldn't be getting dogs. The dog shouldn't have to suffer because someone in the family is so selfish they want a dog regardless of the fact that the dog is unhappy and someone is allergic to it. Also the same if you can't train a dog then that is your problem. There's only very few special cases in which a dog simply cannot be trained. Obviously if you don't know how to train a dog then you can only train really smart dogs. Some dogs are stubborn but if you enforce the proper rules and do it correctly you can train almost any dog. Farm dogs are different entirely. Why are you comparing farm animals with huge shelters and copious amounts of hay for warmth to the idea that dogs shouldn't be left outside without proper shelter? Your analogies are flawed and make no sense in the context of the idea that is being discussed.

Well its not being selfish if you had a dog for 5 years then have a child who is born allergic to it. I have seen it happen first hand. They were attached to the dog, so they kept it as an outside dog. The dog was loved and cared for the same, so it wasnt allowed in the house, doesnt mean it wasnt loved. They werent being selfish either, no one would take the dog and they were not going to have it put down. The dog is perfectly happy outside.

My father in laws dog is one of those untrainable dogs. It is CONSTANTLY biting people, it uses the bathroom in the house, it does not listen to save its life. So does that mean my fil is a horrible owner because the dog doesnt listen? NO its the DOG, he has another dog who listens perfectly, it was trained the same way.

I do not trust any animal at all. Just because they are now domestic creatures does not mean they wont attack at anytime. I have heard and seen stories about different dogs, attacking their owners, for no reason. They will always have the wild animal instinct.

A dog is a dog is a dog... their coat, muscles, fat etc are relative to their size (obviously)
So a small dog's coat is going to keep them warm, like a larger dog's coat would.
Now yes, obviously huskys and artic breeds are going to have thicker coats thus keeping them warmer than the thinner haired dog, but then you have dogs such as the Pomeranian that are tiny and all fur.
I am a dog lover, i have grown up with them and my mum owns 5 and i lived with her until august last year, but dogs are animals and if someone decides to leave them outside, so be it! It's not like theyre going to die and if i'm honest, they will enjoy the different scents that the outside world gives them that a life sat indoors (until walk time) doesnt!

seriously!?
If you haven't noticed, dogs STILL have their fur, unlike we who only have hair on our heads and fine hair in other places.
think about it -_-

Oh for god's sake, grow up!
You're saying we neglect our animals and let them suffer!?
No. We are saying that it doesn't hurt for a dog to be outside. I never keep my dogs outside because I like their company and cuddles.
If someone doesn't want to keep their dogs indoors, there's nothing wrong with that!

EDIT: I train dog handlers at a certified club, my dogs are perfectly well trained and we keep them indoors but wouldn't have any issues leaving them outside. So no, I do not let my dogs suffer and I know what is good for them and what is not!

I live in Ohio which gets extremely cold in the winter, our news station even make efforts to warn owners to not keep their dogs outside for longer than 30 minutes because they could in fact get sick or die, and when the dog is crying at the door to be let in and is still left out there for hours longer, it's obviously a problem, also when they bark their heads off they disturb neighbors who are trying to sleep at 1 am. It's rude and inconsiderate and lazy.

Uh no, I said they shouldn't be left in freezing temperatures.. besides that, I don't care. Unless it's over like 110, that's not good either but as long as your dog doesn't run around and kill himself, I don't care about that either. I think you may have missed something, and if not then... Wtf? You can grow up.

Edit: If you don't want your animals indoors then in freezing temperatures you should get them those dog beds that cover them or at least try to help them not freeze. All I was saying is dogs are not okay in freezing temperatures and if you must leave them out, at least make an effort to keep them warm out because they're fur isn't as warm as you'd think.

You think about it.
Put on some warm clothes and go sit outside for 8 hours in freezing temperatures and see how happy you are. See if you don't shiver your ass off. Dogs can get cold to. How are you not getting that?

What part of Ohio do you live in? Because i have never heard that, ever. Two of our dogs are outside, year round. We must be inconsiderate, rude and lazy because of that right?

And I agree with you that they should have shelter and a bed outside... I wasn't saying just leave them there! As long as they have food and water and a bed and kennel I don't see the problem!

I think they're required to have shelter. Do they have a kennel or something big enough for all three dogs? If they bark all day you could call about a noise complaint, maybe that would inspire them to bring their dogs inside. I've called about a dog that barks nonstop before.

Yes, dogs are animals. Pack animals. They deserve to eat, sleep, play, and live with their pack and if you are a good enough human member, they deserve to have you in their pack.

Wrangler spends a lot of time outside because he is aSAR dog. However, he is never outside without me. If he's sleeping outside, I'm sleeping outside.

It's not even the weather you have to worry about. We call small outside dogs "hawk food". And those medium to large size dogs? Coyote bait.

I live in the Columbus area, and if you live in a neighborhood and your dogs are the types to bark their heads off and you still them out there for prolonged periods of time then yes it is inconsiderate and rude, and either way leaving your dogs outside for more than half the day is lazy. Makes one think you leave them out there to avoid them especially when it gets to the point that they're crying to be let inside and you still leave them out there, if any of this applies to you then yes.

They open the garage door for them, I don't know about kennels or anything of that nature I can only see the front yard, and one side yard.
