Perimenopausal after Childbirth?

posted 9th Jan
Does anyone remember how long you are perimenopausal after childbirth?
My OB told me that you are in like a perimenopausal state for a few months after childbirth. This would explain my reoccurring sore throats and night sweats. I'm hoping I dont have to suffer for long.

There are 40 symptoms of perimenopause. Since your hormones play such an important role in your body, the symptoms are random and you may only experience a few of them. One of the most common is vaginal dryness and lowered libido.

um... i don't think that's what the OB meant. you can have certain symptoms that mimic perimenopausal ones, but I can have those during pregnancy or before a pregnancy too. I mean one is most fertile the few months after deliver so that would be the opposite of being perimenopausal

huh? you are most certainly not perimenopausal after childbirth. You're most fertile then. Since the very definition of perimenopausal is the transition towards infertility... I'm thinking your OB was making an analogy that you misunderstood abotu irregular periods.

Perimenopause, also called the menopausal transition, is the interval in which a woman's body makes a natural shift from more-or-less regular cycles of ovulation and menstruation toward permanent infertility, or menopause.

I'm also very curious what your sore throat in the middle of winter has to do with menopause???

No. He said that your hormones are inbalanced after pregnancy and that i will experience the same symptoms as if i was perimenipausal. Reoccuring sore throats is a symptom of it and it didnt appear till after i had my son. So either i have tonsil issues, sinus drip or its relating to the hormone imbalance. Im scheduling a doctor's appt to get a swab done.I highly doubt its strep because i've had it for months now and i havent had a fever. I dont have any allergies so it cant be that.

You arent actually perimenapausal. He meant symptoms like low libido, vaginal dryness etc because of the hormones being out of wack. I'm taking a natural family planning class that my OB teaches. I know about the high fertility.

I was just curious if anyone knows how long it takes for your body to go back to normal. I'd rather hear that its my hormones than needing surgery to get tonsils removed. I thought usually only kids get them removed because as you get older you get more resilient. I guess i'll find out the exact cause soon.

There is nothing wrong with the question. I didnt word it right the first time so i reiterated what i said in a better way. Hormones affect your body in many ways.
